“TOP SELLING GUIDE BOOKS”

“New Zealand’s Top Selling Guide Books,” says the advertisement  in the magazine, and I am interested for several reasons.

"THE BOOK OF BOOKS"

“THE BOOK OF BOOKS”

The ad tells us about Books, Charts and ‘How To’ guides. The price of the charts and books is printed at the top and at the bottom is the information where they are available.

The titles are CAPE TO CAPE, TRAMPING, GOLFING, FISHING, CAMPING, WALKING, HUNTING and there are more titles.

I am not really all that familiar with those guides, but  I am interested in the titles Cape to Cape, Camping and Walking. Walking has been my exercise  for quite some time now.

But I am very familiar with another guide book, the Bible. The Bible is the guide book to everlasting life.

Large portions of the Bible were written by uneducated men, but the Bible is considered a literary masterpiece.

The Bible has been a hated book. Governments have tried to do away with it. But the Lord has preserved the Bible. I am wondering if there is any house where you don’t find a Bible. I think not a few are full of dust.

Think about the wonder of the age of the Bible. The Bible is the oldest of all books.

But what about the wonder of the sale of the Bible?

THE BIBLE IS THE WORLD’S  BEST SELLER OF ALL TIME!

“ALIAS JUNGLE DOCTOR”

Finished reading the book: ALIAS JUNGLE DOCTOR, an autobiography by Paul White.

"Alias Jungle Doctor"

“Alias Jungle Doctor”

I hope you don’t mind me saying again, I did not know that I had so many exciting books on my bookshelf.

He is writing what he thought when he was “patted on the back and kicked in the teeth.”

“GETTING HEARD”

werner-150x150-e1367980712224“How to get heard,” it says on the front panel of the leaflet from the Mental Health Foundation I picked up at the healthy lifestyle hui (meeting) not long ago.

I am reading that it can be really very difficult for children to talk to their parents and other people they live with about the hard things. And what are the hard things? The following are listed: sex, drugs, trouble with the police, bad reports and exam results, bullying, feeling bad about themselves and violence.

They are told what to do getting heard by their parents. Reasons are also given why things might not work. They are also told about agencies they can contact if they have problems communicating with father and mother, agencies like Youthline, Family Planning Association and Citizens Advice Bureau. Contact details are given of course on the back panel. Additional information is also included on the back panel of the leaflet.

Not only our young people have hard things to deal with, all of us have. All of us want to get heard, want to talk to someone about our worries.

Children might have difficulties communicating with their parents, but nobody has difficulties talking to God, our creator. He is always willing and waiting to hear from anyone of us anywhere, anytime and anyhow.

Healthy Lifestyle Hui (Meeting)

At the healthy Lifestyle hui (meeting) I went to not long ago was also a BLIND FOUNDATION stall.

I learnt that Louis Braille was blind from the age of three and that he was only 15 years of age when he invented braille in 1824.

I also learnt to spell my name in braille by coloring in some dots on a paper.

September

SEPTEMBER is the first month of SPRING in New Zealand.

"SPRING"

“SPRING”

Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ have ALWAYS a “spring” in their step.

From long ago I remember this:

“The God of eternity is the God of every hour and minute for a believer in Jesus Christ.”

Romans 8:28 says this: “And we know that in all things God works for good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
