I am reading now the book THERE’S A NEW WORLD COMING by Hal Lindsey.

I cannot remember how long ago it was picked up second hand, who picked it up and where it was picked up.

But I am reading the book with great interest!

“The word ‘church’ is also used to refer to a group of people who meet in one specific location for worship and fellowship. In any one of these local congregations there are usually some true believers and some who are not,” writes Hal Lindsey in his book “THERE’S A NEW WORLD COMING”.

THERE ARE USUALLY SOME TRUE BELIEVERS.

Those who are true believers have a personal relationship with the true God.

THERE ARE USUALLY SOME WHO ARE NOT TRUE BELIEVERS.

Those who are not true believers don’t have a personal relationship with the true God.

TRUE BELIEVERS HELPING THOSE WHO ARE NOT TRUE BELIEVERS TO COME INTO A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE TRUE GOD IN THE LOCAL CONGREGATION.

One subject at Bible school was Personal Evangelism (PE) and this is what I learned:

THOSE WHO ARE NOT TRUE BELIEVERS HAVE WRONG HOPES.

1.  They are hoping to be saved by their ‘righteous life’.

How can we recognize those people?

They say that they are doing more good things than bad things.

They also say that they are not big sinners.

They say that they have never done anything really evil.

2.  They are also hoping go be saved by being religious.

What must we tell them? (4 things)

a. Not what we can see from the outside is important. The inside is for God important. First Samuel 16:7; Second Timothy 3:5; Luke 16:15.

b.  In spite of being religious we can get lost, if we don’t really live for God. Titus 1:16.

c. We can even be active in christian work and get lost. Matthew 7:21-23.

d. We must be born again. John 3:3-5; Second Corinthians 5:17.

And until the very end, “IN ANY ONE OF THESE LOCAL CONGREGATIONS THERE ARE USUALLY SOME TRUE BELIEVERS AND SOME WHO ARE NOT.”

“Nowhere in the N.T. is the word “church” used for the building in which any particular Christian community met.” – 20th Century Bible Dictionary

It has been three years since an earthquake struck CHRISTCHURCH ( 22. 2. 2011 ) killing 185 people.

Ernest Klassen inspires me.

He used to be one of my teachers at Bible school.

“Mein Vater Ernie Klassen”

I am inspired by those born again believers, who talk to others about what the Lord has done in their lives whenever they have an opportunity and whenever the Lord prompts them to do so. (Personal Evangelism)

Uncle Ernie, as we called Ernest Klassen, was such a man!

After leaving school I trained in two coal mines in Germany (Ruhr District) to become a ‘Steiger’ (one who climbs). One mine was in the city called Herne and the other in Bottrop. I used to do that for almost eight years. All I can say is that I did not like it at all to be 800 meters under the earth.

THIS IS NOT A SILVER SPOON

At the moment I am reading the book 12 Sermons to Young People by C. H. Spurgeon.

In his sermon called THE BEST BURDEN FOR YOUNG SHOULDERS his text from the Bible is Lamentations 3:27, where it says, “It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young.”

In that sermon he says, “The silver spoon in the mouth with which some people are born is very apt to choke them.”

When I read that I was thinking to myself that there are even parents who put a silver spoon into the mouths of their children and choke them. I would not go so far and say that they are doing that deliberately.

I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth and my mother was not able to put a silver spoon in my mouth either.

And some time ago, even before I read this sermon, I said that the best thing that could have ever happened to me when I was in my teens was to work for almost eight years in a coal mine.

The best training ever!
