A Good Question

The speaker at a funeral said this about the man who has died.

I sometimes think of him with the letters A to F-

A = Adored the Lord

B = Behind everything

C = Committed

D = Delightful man

E = Expectant, Excited, Enthusiastic

F = Focused

A good question is: What do people think of us?

Two Quotes

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, …” – First Corinthians 1:18

“You see the cross makes us one in every respect. We are one in sin, we are one in failure, we are one in helplessness, and in hopelessness.” – D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones

“The cross is the door that leads to all blessings.” – D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Blindness and Deafness

“Blindness cuts us off from things, but deafness cuts us off from people.” – Helen Keller

There is not only physical blindness and deafness, there is also spiritual blindness and deafness.

PHYSICAL BLINDNESS AND DEAFNESS.

The Bible tells us about physical inflicted blindness and the Bible tells us also about the healing of physical blindness.

In the Bible we are reading about physical deafness in:

a. Matthew 11:5; b. Mark 7:32; c. Mark 9:25

SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS AND DEAFNESS

Here are some examples of spiritual blindness:

a. Matthew 15:14; (Matthew 23:19) b. 2 Corinthians 4:4; c. Ephesians 4:18

In the Bible we are reading about spiritual deafness in:

a. Jeremiah 6:10; b. 2 Timothy 4:4

Just as physical blindness cuts us off from things and physical deafness cuts us off from people, spiritual blindness and deafness cuts us off from God.

Being cut off from things and people has only consequences for this present life, but being cut off from God has consequences for the future life.
