“‘If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.'” – Mark 8:38

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST IS ALIVE

Image

The article “My teenager is obsessed with death,” in one of our local papers makes me think about death again.

People are afraid of dying, but the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ gives us a solid hope.

  1. We die, because we have broken the law.
  2. God is just and he cannot overlook that.
  3. The Lord Jesus Christ has borne our condemnation.

The death of the Lord Jesus Christ was no accident. His purpose in dying was “to take away the sins of many people.” Please read Hebrews 9:28. That is the sin which kept us from God. And the Lord Jesus Christ kept his word when he said that he would die and rise again. Please read Luke 24:7.

ROMANS 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

READING THE BIBLE

Image

“Jesus replied, ‘You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.'” – Matthew 22:29.

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST IS SPEAKING TO THE:

  • Pharisees,
  • chief priests.
  • teachers of the law and the
  • Sadducees.

A.  Matthew 12:3,5

“He [Jesus] answered, ‘Haven’t you read what David did when …'”

“‘Or haven’t you read in the Law that on the Sabbath …'”

Here the Lord is pointing the Pharisees to First Samuel 21:6 and Numbers 28:9.

B.  Matthew 19:4

“‘Haven’t you read,’ he replied, ‘that at the beginning the Creator …'”

Here the Lord Jesus Christ is pointing the Pharisees to Genesis 1:27

C.  Matthew 21:16

“‘Yes,’ Jesus replied, ‘have you never read, …'”

Here the Lord Jesus Christ is pointing the chief priests and teachers of the law to Psalm 8:2

D. Matthew 22:31

“‘But about the resurrection of the dead – have you not read what God said to you,…'”

Here the Lord Jesus Christ is pointing the Sadducees to Exodus 3:6.

I AM LEARNING: We must not only read the Bible, but memorize as much as we can.

RELATIONSHIPS ONCE AGAIN

Image

“If you’re happy, let your face know!”

“Relationship broken down?” asks the lawyer advertisement in one of our local papers.

Whenever true Christians hear about relationships, they are not only thinking about relationships with people, but also about their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

The lawyer mentioned in the advertisement is a relationship property expert and he knows how to divide everything fairly.

For true Christians the relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ comes first. They know  the promise in the Bible where it says:

“BUT SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND ALL THESE THINGS WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU AS WELL.” – Matthew 6:33

What a promise.

“God’s kingdom is not a place, but rather a relationship. It exists wherever people enthrone Jesus as lord of their lives.” – J. I. Packer
