“Many go through life without ever learning that joy is like jam, sticking to you as you spread it, but that is the truth all the same.” – J. I. Packer
“God has not promised to deliver us from trouble, but He has promised to go with us through the trouble.” – Billy Graham
“By faith he [Moses] left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king; for he endured as seeing him who is invisible.” – Hebrews 11:27
“…, FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD, …” – Romans 3:23
People who are assaulting each other and people who are owing money are in the news.
FAMILY VIOLENCE
“A plea for family change,” is the article on the front page in our local paper called. (The Northland Age, Tuesday, November 12, 2019) In the article it says that “‘The change needs to firstly start in people’s homes…'”
It is a spiritual problem and the change must start in people’s hearts.
On an average seven family harm incidents are being reported to Kaitaia police, it says also in the article.
DEBT
In the editorial of the same paper I am reading about student loan debts. It says there also “that a handful owe more than $400,000 apiece.”
We find the answer to the two problems in the Bible. The Bible says in Colossians 3:19:
“Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.”
And in Romans 13:8 we read:
“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, …”
If there is anything I like to do is reading. I read anything that is coming my way, so to speak.
But I want to give you at least two reasons why I rather read the BIBLE, than any other book.
REASON NUMBER ONE:
The Holy Spirit is the author of the Bible. God’s nature and purposes are revealed in the Bible in written form. All other books are written by humans, but the Bible is written by God, the Holy Spirit.
REASON NUMBER TWO:
Listen to what it says in Matthew 24:35, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” All other books written will pass away, but the words of the Bible will never pass away.
I hope you are now also encouraged to read rather “The Book of Books” , the Word of God, than any other literature that is coming your way.
