Being Dedicated

wernerweb-150x150“We have dedicated staff who concentrate exclusively on helping you switch banks painlessly,” says the ASB leaflet, I picked up not long ago. The leaflet is called “Success is trying out a new bank – without trying all their fees.”

And I can only say that I am very attentive. Why?

In my reading of the BIBLE – I started at the beginning of the year with the first book called GENESIS – I arrived at ACTS in the New Testament, and there it says 4 things about the early believers. They dedicated themselves to 4 things: (Acts 2:42)

1. The apostles’ doctrine:

We find 13 letters of the apostle Paul in the New Testament and 2 of the apostle Peter.

2. Fellowship with other believers:

There is secular fellowship and there is Christian fellowship. Christian fellowship is much deeper.

Here are seven things that believers have in common:

a. all born of the same father (John 1:13);

b. bought with the same price (First Corinthian 6:20);

c. members of the same Body (Colossians 1:18);

d.  taught by the same Spirit (John 16:13)

e. walking in the same path (Second Corinthians 5:7);

f. serving the same Master (Matthew 23:8);

g. heirs of the same inheritance (Romans 8:17)

3. The breaking of bread:

Who may partake of Holy Communion?

Only those who belong to the family of God. We must be born into the family of God.

4. Prayer:

What is prayer?

“Prayer is worship addressed to the Father, in the name of Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Dr. H. W. Frost

The ASB bank has dedicated staff who concentrate exclusively on helping people switch banks painlessly.

I am asking:

“Do we have devoted (dedicated) believers at the present time who concentrate on the apostle’s teaching, the fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer?

“Longest Life Expectancy in the World”

“Over 20% of Japan’s population is past retirement age. Japan also has some of the fittest pensioners as it has the  longest life expectancy in the world (83 years)!

I find this information in a W E C calendar, which was sent to us from Japan.

W E C stands for WORLDWIDE EVANGELISATION FOR CHRIST.

“Lama davka ani?”

“Why Me?” asks one candidate who has elected to advertise in the feature called “Meet the Candidates”. (Northern  News, SEPTEMBER 25, 2013)

When I read that I was reminded of a book with the same title. I thought I had it on my book shelf, but when I looked I found only the German translation called MITTEN INS HERZ, Originaltitel: “LAMA DAVKA ANI”? The Book is written by Jakob Damkani. Get a copy and read it!

“Why Me?” I am asking myself also.

Why was I chosen?

I had my second birthday when I was 18 years of age, and that’s when I began my new life.

I want to say with David:

 “THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, I SHALL NOT BE IN WANT. HE MAKES ME LIE DOWN IN GREEN PASTURES, HE LEADS ME BESIDE QUIET WATERS, HE RESTORES MY SOUL.” – Psalm 23:1,2

Please read Psalm 23!

Why was I chosen “before the creation of the world?”

Please read Ephesians 1:4!

Virtue

When I read today the quote “Hope is one of the theological virtues” by C. S. Lewis, it came to me to find out more about the word “virtue”.

When looking up the word “virtue” in The Collins Concise Dictionary I read the following:

1.  “the quality or practice of moral excellence or righteousness.” Please notice the word practice!

2. “any admirable quality or trait”.

3. “any of the cardinal virtues (prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance) or theological virtues (faith, hope, and charity).”

In my reading of the Bible from cover to cover I  came today to Luke 8:21, where the Lord Jesus Christ says, “My mother and brothers are those  who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”

“REVIVAL AREA”

We really don’t need any encouragement to revive our body.

But we need lots of encouragement to revive our soul.

In Psalm 19:7 we read:

“The law of the Lord is perfect, REVIVING THE SOUL. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.”

“REVIVAL AREA”

Please read the following verses to revive your soul:

1.  Isaiah 30:15: Do you want to be strong?

2.  First John 1:9: Here we are told what to do with our sins.

3.  First Corinthians 3:11: Are you looking for a foundation to stand on?

4.  Second Corinthians 3:17 : Do you want to know where to find FREEDOM?

5.  First John 3:8: The Son of God came to destroy the devil’s work.

6.  Revelation 12:11: Here we are told how to overcome.

7.  James 4:2: Ask God and you will have.

8.  Matthew 11:28: Are your weary and burdened?

 Let me remind you again that it says in Matthew 4:4

“IT IS WRITTEN: ‘MAN DOES NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT COMES FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD.'”

Please remember also who is speaking!

House or Home?

HOUSE OR HOME?

A HOUSE OR A HOME?

A HOUSE OR A HOME?

In his column ONWARDS AND UPWARDS our MP informs us about the “New laws to protect children.” (The Northland Age, Thursday, September 12, 2013)

He writes “more than 50 children have died in the past five years because of extreme abuse.”

“Love makes our house a home.”

But can we legislate love? I remember Billy Graham once saying that we cannot legislate LOVE.
