“….the First Sermon to be Preached on New Zealand Soil;….”
I am reading just now about “the first sermon to be preached on New Zealand soil” in the book by Keith Newman called “Bible & Treaty”.
There is also a picture in the book and underneath you can read, “Samuel Marsden’s first sermon at Oihi Bay, Christmas Day, 1814.

Alone
“Be able to be alone; lose not the advantage of solitude, and the society of thyself; nor be only content but delight to be alone with Omnipotency. He who is thus prepared, the day is not uneasy, nor the night black unto him.” – Sir Thomas Browne
What a Surprise!
What a surprise and joy it was today to run into a group of tourists from Thailand.
They were on their way to Waipapakauri to stay there tonight. Tomorrow they are off to Cape Reinga.
Cape Reinga – Famous Tourist Destination
They were also delighted to hear a ‘Farang’ (Name for Occidental, European, Westerner) speak the thai language. They told me that I speak very good thai. I was surprised to hear that. We left Thailand in 1979.
But they know that missionaries make a real effort to speak thai fluently.
