When I saw “Be yourself, because an original is worth more than a copy,” written on a small blackboard in one of our hairdressers salons here in Kaitaia, I was impressed and thought, “Yes, that is right, I can learn from that.”
But then I thought some more:
We know that a copy is an imitation of an original.
There are many books, but in “THE BOOK OF BOOKS” the apostle Paul says to imitate him. In the same book it says also that we should “imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” In the “BOOK of BOOKS” it says also to imitate the faith of our leaders. We are also encouraged to imitate what is good and not what is evil. We are also encouraged to imitate God (Ephesians 5:1). In First Thessalonians Paul says this about the believers there, “You became imitators of us and of the Lord; …” “For you, brothers, became imitators of God’s churches in Judea, …”
Do you agree with me, that what is written on the blackboard is diametrically opposed to what the Bible, the Word of God, says?
“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next things that come along’.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
Was I glad to read in our local paper, THE NORTHLAND AGE, Tuesday, March 5, 2013, that NEW ZEALAND BOOK MONTH is “a national campaign to build a nation of dedicated readers.”
I would like it to be a national campaign to build a nation of dedicated readers of the BIBLE.
“THE BOOK OF BOOKS”
WHY WOULD I LIKE THAT?
The answer is that the BIBLE is “THE BOOK OF BOOK.”
And here are two GOLDEN NUGGETS from “THE BOOK OF BOOKS”:
“But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all men. He did not need man’s testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man.” – John 2:24,25
“‘They are not just idle words for you – they are your life. By them you live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.'” – Deuteronomy 32:47
