The little Bookmarker and the big Drum

Quick two true stories about letting go………from my own experience.

I picked up the bookmark from the dirty ground. It was almost under my feet. It looked almost like new and  I started to read. The whole of Psalm 23 was written on one side. Psalm 23:1-6. Twice on the same walk I tried to give the bookmark away. The first time it did not work. I was told that it was for me to keep……… ! The second time it was eagerly received by a man who really needed that message of Psalm 23 at that time.

Later at home I picked up a book I was reading and I found a different bookmark in the book.

I must have used a prayer-letter as bookmark and somebody wanted to read it! The prayer letter was removed and replaced with a proper bookmark on which was written…… the whole of Psalm 23. Psalm 23:1-6

I am using now the Psalm 23 bookmark!

When we arrived from Thailand in New Zealand back in 1979 we came by plane of course , but some of our belongings came by boat. I had to pick up the drum at the harbour in Auckland.

There was a very good radio in the drum, but very old and FM did not work properly any more. I was asked to pay tax for the radio – but I refused. If I remember correctly it was $40.00.

We were standing there near the water and I said something like this to the man in charge and laughing,  “You can take the radio home as a present from me or throw it in the water here – but I don’t pay one cent of tax for the receiver.” When I said that the Nordmende receiver did not end up in the water………..but was handed over to me!

The message is: LET GO!

DEAF EARS – BUT IT IS NOT TOO LATE FOR PEOPLE TO HEED THE MESSAGE OF THE COUNCIL

Our local paper, THE NORTHLAND AGE, reports today that “appeals for Kaitaia residents to reduce their water consumption have largely fallen on deaf ears – ….”

But it says also that “it’s not too late for people to heed our message (the message of the Council) and start cutting down on their water use.”

I am thinking now about the MESSAGE OF THE BIBLE, the Word of the  Living God. It is not too late to heed the message of the  Bible to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The BIBLE, the Word of the Living God says:

“HE WHO HAS AN EAR, LET HIM HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT SAYS TO THE CHURCHES.”

Revelation 2:11

Do you have an ear for the message from the Living God?

Our Responsibility

His responsibility – to spark the flame,

Ours – to be willing to be lit;

His responsibility – to empower the light,

Ours – to shine where the darkness is deepest.

His responsibility – to provide the fuel for burning,

Ours – to keep in touch with the source.
