This is written on the notice board of a church:

“When we LISTEN God SPEAKS.
When we OBEY God WORKS.”

“You are what you eat,” I am reading. It is the first article in a health magazine. More and more people are believing that “you are what you eat.” People are striving for a healthier life. They are striving for a happier life. We want to live longer as well. That’s why we are focusing on our diet. We are focusing on our nutrition.
But what does the Bible, the Word of the Living God, say? Let me read Matthew 4:4 and listen to the words of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ:  “MAN SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDETH OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.”
In a very old book I read something about the Puritans. Matthew Henry said this about the Puritans: “It was a common saying among the Puritans: BROWN BREAD AND THE GOSPEL IS GOOD FARE.”
Brown bread is a good diet.
Brown Bread and the Gospel!
What a good diet.
I think the Puritans knew what they were doing.
We can learn from them.
I don’t know if the Puritans had a long life. They probably did. But they certainly had a healthy life and a happy life. Brown Bread and the Gospel is certainly good fare.

While I am sitting here writing, I am looking all of a sudden to the table where I see “THE INSIDER’S GUIDE TO SKY TELEVISION” called “SKYWATCH.” It is quite a thick magazine. I don’t think I have ever seen it before.

I am reminded of what it says in Matthew 24:1-51.

I am in the service of the Lord. I want to be in the service of the Lord. And I have been in the service of the Lord for a long time.
But today I read a “FARMERS” pamphlet and since reading what is written in it I am wondering about the standard of my service.
In the “FARMERS” leaflet it says,”Thank you for helping us ensure that our standard of service is nothing less than excellent.”
“FARMERS” wants the customers to tell them what they think about Customer Service, Store Presentation and more.
Advice from customers can make “FARMERS” a better store. The opinion of customers is worth a lot to “FARMERS.” That’s what the leaflet says. Beside Customer Service you can find this question: “How did you find our team members?” You can tick one of the following boxes: Very helpful, Quite helpful and Not helpful.
At the end of the questionnaire the customer is asked, “Have you received outstanding customer service from someone at ‘FARMERS’? If so, please recommend them for Team Member of the Month so their efforts can be recognised.”
I am in the service of the LORD!

Is my service excellent?
Is my service satisfactory?
Is my service poor?

That are really excellent questions!

This was written on a CHRISTmas card I read this CHRISTmas:
