I am reading that on a brochure I picked up today!

Do YOU have friends?

I am thinking lately again and again about the disciples, friends, of the Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 26:36-46 . That portion of Scripture is easy to remember – 26/36/46 – and I always receive great comfort – there are many Lessons – when reading those verses. I remember reading them many, many years ago and lately I have been reading them also again and again.

The Lord is troubled and sorrowful and asked the sons of Zebedee James and John (Matthew 4:21,22; Mark 1:19,20) and Peter to keep watch with him. And what are they doing? — They are going to sleep, not only once, but three times. But the Lord still calls them men.

It all happens in the garden of Gethsemane. It is a garden near Jerusalem. “Gethsemane” means “oilpress.” It is an Aramaic word. Presumably an olive garden and there was also a press to squeeze oil from the fruit.

Gethsemane (oilpress) – Remember, our Lord Jesus Christ is under terrible pressure!

The Lord asked his friends to keep watch with him – they are going to sleep.

What are your friends doing, when you need them?

This came to my mind when I read about a Mr. Savage, who is high up in the education system. At one time I went also to a church, where the pastor was a Mr. Savage.

— There are people called Mr. Savage and they are not savage at all!

— There are also people who are calling themselves Christians and they are not Christians at all!

Acts 11:26 “The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.”

Am I easily discouraged? Am I a big person?

Today is Wednesday and one of my computers is already since Monday morning in the shop for repairs and there is no sign of getting it back in a hurry.

I have done one thing though:

When one computer is in the shop for repairs, I still have two more computers to do what I want to do.

I AM NOT WAITING TO DIE – I AM WAITING FOR THE RETURN OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST!

I will answer it.

Yes, I have read from the Bible, the Word of the Living God TODAY. I have also read from the devotional classic by C.H. Spurgeon called “MORNING AND EVENING” TODAY.

And I was encouraged!

Spurgeon is mentioning Matthew 16:17 where the Lord himself says to Peter, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my father in heaven.”

God is revealing things. Is that not exciting. It is indeed. God is revealing things to people when we pray for them.

I know my mother prayed for me to come out of darkness into light, from death to life. And I came. It is exciting to be in touch with the Living God!
