“It pays to plan ahead”

“New Zealand Post” has a service called “Please hold all mail…..” That is for people, who are going on holiday.  All you need to do is fill in a Hold service application. For those with the SuperGold card the service is even FREE!

I am reading just now on the application card : “It pays to plan ahead.” Those five words took my attention immediately. “IT  PAYS TO PLAN AHEAD”

It surely pays  to plan ahead. And please remember to plan ahead for the time after your death. The Bible, the Word of the Living God says:

“JUST AS MAN IS DESTINED TO DIE ONCE, AND AFTER THAT TO FACE JUDGMENT,…”

DO YOU WANT TO BE STRONG? “…., in quietness… is your strength,….” (Isaiah 30:15)

One of the sayings they have in Germany goes like this: “Sie muss immer das letzte Wort haben.”

The meaning in the english language is something like this: “She must always have the last word or the last say.”

That is not my problem! Or is it? To a certain degree we all have the problem of wanting to  have the last word.

That’s why I picked up my Bible today and read again the verse in Isaiah 30:15. There it says: “…, in quietness …. is your strength, ….”

Those words in Isaiah 30:15 “…., in quietness ….is your strength,…” have always been a blessing to me, but I remember a time in my life many years ago when those words were a special blessing.

The WORD OF GOD is a sword, a hammer, a seed, a mirror, a fire, a lamp and food.P1050355 There are Bible verses for those symbols. Please make an effort to find them!

Another sermon outline with seven points.

I noticed that some people don’t need an outline for their sermons. They are difficult to listen to.

In Acts chapter nine we are reading about the conversion of Saul (Paul). In Acts 9:11 it says about him: “for he is praying.”

How did I find out that those four people I had never met before were brothers in Christ? (We are actually living in the same town) I heard them and saw them praying!

Not long ago I attended two different meetings. Although both meetings had nothing to do with the church and religion I remember the prayer at the end of one meeting. At the second meeting the prayer was at the beginning.

I talked to the men who prayed privately and found out that we do have the same Father, the Lord Jesus Christ.

On another occasion recently I saw two men praying very seriously in a restaurant for quite some time. Others saw them too. When I talked to them I was glad to meet two more brothers in Christ.

One of them asked me if I had a word for them. “Rejoice in the Lord always.” came to me straight away. Philippians 4:4

Those four brothers in Christ are going to four different churches, but they are praying to the same Father in heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ.

“When will you die?”

“Google” helped me this morning to find out the current local time in Bristol/England. I am intending to contact somebody there on Skype in the near future.

When I got to the page where it says that they are eleven hours behind us, I saw the following question written at the top: “When will you die?” A very good question. I think so.P1080340 That question is of interest to all of us. It said there also “Take the Death Quiz.” – There were also the appropiate pictures, as you can well imagine. – I did not take the Death Quiz, but I spread a lot of my study books out around me on the floor in front of my chair. It is a very good idea to do that on a rainy day. (It is raining today in Kaitaia!)

No need to tell you that the BIBLE, the Word of the Living God, is my main study book.

I don’t know how thorough my study was this morning, but the Bible says this: “No man has power over the wind to contain it; so no one has power over the day of his death.” Ecclesiastes 8:8

In Psalm 31:15 David says:

“MY TIMES ARE IN YOUR HANDS.”

What more do we want?
