“WHY WORRY?”

P1230424-1024x768“WHY WORRY?” I remember the lady saying.  I think I remember, because she said “why worry” almost in regular intervals. She said that while she was sitting in one of the hot pools at Ngawha Springs, not far from Kaikohe in the north of New Zealand.

(We used to work in Kaikohe for almost a quarter of a century with the United Maori Mission.)

  • Worry is nothing more than borrowed trouble. – Unknown

  • Worry does not relieve tomorrow of its stress-it merely empties today of its strength. – Unknown

  • Worry is unbelief in disguise. – Unknown

“Don’t worry about anything;

instead,

pray about everything.

Tell God what you need,  and

thank him for all he has done.” – Philippians 4:6 (NLT)

Yes, “why worry?”

SECURITY

“WE MAKE HOME AND COMMERCIAL SECURITY AFFORDABLE.”

When I read that today on an alarmtech work van I was reminded again of the eternal security of the believer.

Home security is important. Commercial security is important. But there is one security that is more important than any other security and that is the eternal security of the believer.security-0441-225x300

What do we mean when we are talking about the eternal security of the believer?

We were born as poor sinners. But once the following things have happened to a poor sinner, it is impossible that that person should ever again be a lost soul.

And here are the things:

1. He has been regenerated by the Word and the Spirit of God.

2. He has received a new life and a new nature.

3. He has been made a partaker of the divine nature.

4. He has been justified from every charge before the throne of God.

Home security is affordable. Commercial security is affordable. But thank God, the eternal security of the believer is free. Salvation is FREE!

‘THE NEXT BOOK’

‘THE NEXT BOOK’

“This is ‘the  next book’ I am going to read,” I was thinking to myself, but when I picked it up and started reading, I put it down very quick. Was it that it did not arouse my interest?18. 01. 2013 033

For some time I have the verse of the Bible on my mind, where it says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, …”

Not long ago I picked up ‘THE NEXT BOOK’ again and now I cannot put it down, because I am very interested in the book and the book is a blessing. “There is a time for everything …” even reading the book COMPETENT TO COUNSEL by Jay E. Adams.

ESCAPE!

Wrong Doing has consequences.

“Many had fled to the institution to escape the consequences of their wrong doing.”P1180128-1024x768

Jay  E. Adams is writing that in his book COMPETENT TO COUNSEL on page xvii.

He is talking about the inmates of the mental institutions he was involved with.

All of us have done wrong. All of us are sinners.

“…, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, …” (Romans 3:23)

“As it is written: ‘There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.'” (Romans 3:10)

Before God all men are sinners as the result of the fall. And all men means all men! Not one person is excempt.

Our entire nature has been effected by sin. Read what the Bible says about our understanding (Ephesians 4:18; First Corinthians 2:14), our heart (Jeremiah 17:9,10), our mind and conscience (Genesis 6:5; Titus 1:15, our flesh and spirit (Second Corinthians 7:5) and our will (Romans 7:18).

Long ago I fled to the cross to escape the consequences of my wrong doing, my sin. Why did I flee to the Lord Jesus Christ? Because:P1110710 150x150

“‘Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.'” – Acts 4:12

The greatest event in the history of mankind is the death on the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ. ( I read that in one of the books by Wilhelm Busch)

Where do you go to escape the consequences of your wrong doing?

KICK – STARTING

“Kick-Starting The Year With God.”

I am reading that in the youth section of the WAR CRY. (12 January 2013)

“Kick-Start Your Day

At ………. Cafe.”

That’s what I remember of an invitation in front of a coffee-shop I saw a very long time ago.

Can I invite you to kick-start your day with God?

HOW DO YOU KICK – START EVERY NEW DAY WITH THE LORD?

Have you heard about the daily QUIET TIME, the quiet time in the morning?

True followers of the Lord Jesus Christ do two things during the quiet time; they are reading the BIBLE and they are PRAYING.

1. Reading the BIBLE in the Quiet Time.P1190649-225x300

I read the Bible systematically. I read right through the Bible, not just the portions I like. We must read the Bible meditatively. We are reading about Isaac in the Old Testament and he meditated on the Word of God. We must read the Bible prayerfully. The Bible is the message of the Lord  to my own heart. We must read the Bible resolutely. We must be willing to obey the teachings of the Bible.

2. Praying in the Quiet Time.

What is prayer? Prayer for me is talking with the Lord Jesus Christ about everything.

We don’t only pray in the church.

We can pray everywhere. (First Timothy 2:8) We can pray in the closet. (Matthew 6:6) We can pray always. (Luke 18:1) We can pray day and night. (Psalm 88:1)

How many times did Daniel pray a day? In Daniel 6:10 we read that Daniel, the Daniel in the Bible, prayed three times a day.

If you kick-start every day with God you will soon kick-start every year with God.
