ASHES

I was sitting on my chair when I saw a book on the coffee table. When I picked it up I read on the back cover: “But these strange ashes, Lord, this nothingness, this baffling sense of loss?—- Amy Carmichel

May be it was one year ago when I was sitting on the same chair and may be I said it even out loud in a very depressing voice: ‘Ashes, nothing left but ashes.’ That means everything is burned up.– May be YOU have never come to that point in your Christian Life.

But I remembered straight away what a sign writer wrote :”GOD’S GREATEST PLEASURE IS MAKING MIRACLES FROM THE DUST OF DESPAIR!

Eleven Times in Ninety Minutes-About every 8 minutes

The phrase “AT THE END OF THE DAY” is still very much alive. Automatically I counted it today eleven times while listening to a business tax workshop. If somebody would have told me that when I woke up this morning I would not have believed it.

I always say: “At the end of the day…. WHAT?

FEAR: Isaiah 43:1

– for I have redeemed you

– I have called you by NAME

– You are mine

What more do we want?

Is that not enough?

ANXIETY: Philippians 4:4-6

ANGER: Ephesians 4:26

STRESS: A house hunter says:” It was stressful because you have to put your faith in other people, people you might not know very well.”

DEPRESSION: Today in the news (Voice of Germany) 450 Million people suffering worldwide from depression. They probably don’t have any HOPE!

The Bible says a lot about the hope Christians have. Romans 8:24,25

Romans 1:20

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

Remember your Creator…… Ecclesiastes 12:1-8

How do you read a letter?

How do you read a letter, especially for the first time?

Suppose you receive a letter from your son. Do you read a bit here and a bit there or do you read every sentence of the letter? I read every sentence of the letter and I start at the beginning and I read to the end.

I have been to several churches and I have listened to many sermons. But these days you hardly find a pastor who is going through a letter or a book of the Bible verse by verse and from the beginning to the end.

If you want to listen to exegetical teaching verse by verse you have to go to the internet.

How can we encourage our pastors to preach through books of the Bible?

PERSISTENCE

Yesterday I saw a picture hanging on the wall with the following message:” CHANCE is always powerful. Let your hook always be cast. In the pool where you least expect it will be a fish.

I looked up the word chance in the dictionary!

Born again believers are trusting in the all powerful Creator of Heaven and Earth!
