Personal Evangelism: My Pulpit is the World.

This happened yesterday and here is how I remember the conversations:

On the mainstreet here in Kaitaia I am approaching two backpackers I have never met. They are from Germany and we are getting to talk about the spiritual condition in Germany. I find out that the two are not having any connection with the church whatsoever. Also the parents of both are still alive and they are also without any church affiliation.

The two – male and female – are very good to talk to and I really got to like them during that short time very much. I told them what the Lord put in my heart to tell them. The young man told me, that he found a German Bible at one of the places where he stayed and he had decided to read the Bible. I told him to start with the Gospel of John. I explained to him that the Bible, the Word of the Living God, has two parts, the Old Testament and the New Testament, and that the Gospel of John is the book number four in the New Testament. In the course of our conversation I mentioned that I did not want to keep them…. But the young man thanked me for the conversation when I left them.

NEUSEELAND,  DAS “LAND DER TRAEUME”.

(For Germans)

A little further on the road I ran into one of our church people and I mentioned what happened with the backpackers from Germany. She told me, that she picked up a hitchhiker late one day and because it was late and his hands were very cold she had him for a night at her place – he was from Canada, I think – and told him about the Lord Jesus Christ.

We finished our meeting something like this: I said, “We can read the Bible and joy comes into our heart, we can pray and joy comes into our heart — but the greatest joy comes into our heart when we tell others about the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Have you experienced that JOY?

WHAT AN ENCOURAGEMENT…… (P.E.- 16.11. 08)

What an encouragement it was today to have a long talk about spiritual matters with two Germans, who were really interested in the subject.

Again I did not have any literature (business cards) on me – so we exchanged our contact details by borrowing a pen and writing them on torn off newspaper.

I encouraged them to attend Church Services during their stay in NZ.

I’ll Show you Tomorrow!

“And what are you doing with your time these days, young man?” ** was the question of the owner of the takeaway. “I’ll show you tomorrow,” I answered.

I was sitting in the shop of ‘Jokers Roasts’ in Kaitaia situated on Commerce Street and enjoying one of his famous roasts. They are almost as good as the roasts we have for our Christmas Dinners. And not expensive at all.

I go there to have one good meal a day when my wife is not here. At the present time she is in Auckland visiting her old mother who came out of hospital just the other day.

I also said,” I am so glad you asked that question.”

And tomorrow I am giving him some of my evangelistic writings when I go for another scrumptious meal of roast beef. Included in the evangelistic material is the Anzac Day flyer and the latest Gospel Tract I have written called: At the End of the Day.

** Our neighbour asked the same question. What a wonderful opportunity to give out literature and even talk to people.

I hope this is helpful for Personal Evangelism:

We are needy people, because we are sinners. It is a fact and we read about this fact in Romans 3:23 in the Bible. There is also a penalty for sin. It says so in Romans 6:23.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the only one who can meet our need. He paid the penalty. Romans 5:8. The Lord Jesus Christ has the desire to meet our need. It says so in Luke 19:10. Our Salvation is a (free) gift. Read Ephesians 2:8,9.

But we must ask the Lord to come into our hearts to meet our need. Read John 1:12 and Revelation 3:20.

The Lord Jesus has promised to come into our hearts, to cleanse us from all sin, to make us sons and daughters of God, to give us eternal life. He has promised to live in our hearts. But we must invite him into our hearts and surrender to His control.

What must we do to be saved? Acts 16:30 We must admit our sin, admit our helplessness and Christ’s sufficiency and admit the Saviour into our hearts.

ONLY A STICKER! (?)

He parked his car in front of the court house in Kaikohe, got out of the car and while we were both crossing the street, I called after him,” Sir, are you a Christian?” His answer was in the affirmative. I inquired further,”How do I know, that you are a Christian? Have a guess!” He replied,” I don’t know off hand.” I saw in his face that he was bit at a loss for an answer.

As this man was a complete stranger to me, I did not want to keep him in suspense unnecessarily and said to him,” I know, because you have an ALPHA sticker on the back of your car.”

Most of you, I am sure, are familiar with the ALPHA Course run by Churches. One man I knew ran an Alpha-Course and people came to the Lord !

But back to the man in front of the court house. As we went along the foot path a bright smile came to his face. He was a middle- aged man. A very pleasant man indeed. He was from out of town (Kerikeri). I suspected already, that he was not from Kaikohe.

Further I asked him, “Are you really born again?” “Yes,” was his quick reply. I gave him a clap on his right shoulder and said,” Praise the Lord!” We both kept on walking and smiling and then parted company. I think he had business at the court house and I went along on my way to the Ware House in Kaikohe.

Personal Evangelism

I am sitting on the bench in front of the Warehouse in Kaitaia drinking from my water bottle. It is a hot afternoon. After a short while an elderly Maori lady is joining me on the bench. We have never met before.

But after talking about the weather and the Easter decorations in the Warehouse, we are talking about the real meaning of Easter.

And believe it or not. She is also a believer in the Lord and knows the workers belonging to the UMM. (United Maori Mission) We used to be workers with UMM in Kaikohe.

And one of her brothers is a preacher of the Gospel. I know him. So far as I remember he used to be the guest speaker some years ago at an Easter Camp of the United Maori Mission.

Tell others that you belong to the Lord-May be they also know the Lord

OUR WALK ALONG COMMERCE STREET IN KAITAIA

It was at the Union Church on Commerce Street when I heard footsteps behind me. Looking behind me a bit I mentioned to the young man–I had never met before–that Kaitaia is bathed in sunshine today. He talked about the game of rugby he had just played.

Next I felt the Holy Spirit leading me to ask him about his religion. To make a long story short again Josh– that is his name–knows the Lord, is a witness for the Lord, helps other people and his folks are going the the Advance Ministries Church here in Kaitaia. He himself lives in Auckland, is learning to be a carpenter, going back to Auckland tomorrow. But this evening he will be at the service of Advance Ministries here in Kaitaia in the Community Centre. At 6 pm!

Our walk began at the Union Church as mentioned before and ended at the museum. That was the first time we met-but I hope to see him again! Matthew 10:32,33
