SERMON OUTLINE OT (NIV)

O LORD

Lamentations 5:1-16

Intr.

“Remember, O LORD, what has happened to us;

look, and see our disgrace.

****************

1.  Our inheritance has been turned over to aliens,

2.  our homes to foreigners.

3.  We have become  orphans and

4.  fatherless,

5.  our mothers like widows.

6.  We must buy the water we drink;

7.  our wood can be had only had at a price.

8.  Those who pursue us are at our heels;

9.  we are weary and find no rest.

10.  We submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.

11.  Our fathers sinned and are no more, and

12.  we bear their punishment.

13.  Slaves rule over us, and

14.  there in no one to free us from their hands.

PART TWO

15.  We get our bread at the risk of our lives because of the sword in the desert.

16.  Our skin is hot as an oven,

17.  feverish from hunger.

18.  Women have been ravished in Zion, and

19.  virgins in the towns of Zion.

20.  Princes have been hung up by their hands;

21.  elders are shown no respect.

22.  Young men toil at the millstones;

23.  boys stagger under loads of wood.

24.  The elders are gone from the city gate;

25.  the young men have stopped their music.

26.  Joy is gone from our hearts;

27.  our dancing has turned to mourning.

28.  The crown has fallen from our head.

End:

Woe to us, for we have sinned!”

HOPE!

HOPE!

What is your answer to the question: WHAT IS HOPE?

What is your answer to the question: WHAT IS YOUR HOPE?

I have been taught that HOPE IS DESIRE WITH EXPECTANCY.

What does the dictionary say? The dictionary says what I have been taught, only with more words. The dictionary says also that hope is “A PERSON OR THINGS THAT GIVES CAUSE FOR HOPE”.

WHAT GIVES CAUSE FOR HOPE?

GOD GIVES CAUSE FOR HOPE.

My hope is in God and I will never be put to shame. Read Psalm 25:3

THE WORD OF GOD GIVES CAUSE FOR HOPE.

I can say with the psalmist that I have put my hope in the Word of  God. Psalm 119:74

THE LOVE OF GOD GIVES CAUSE FOR HOPE.

In Psalm 147:11 we find a wonderful promise. The promise says that God delights in those who  put their hope in his unfailing love.

SALVATION GIVES CAUSE FOR HOPE.

In First Thesslonians we are told that  we belong to the day and that we should be putting on salvation as a helmet.

ETERNAL LIFE GIVES CAUSE FOR HOPE.

Our faith is resting on the hope of eternal life. Our knowledge is resting on the hope of eternal life. Please read Titus 1:1-3

******************

1.  My eyes will watch over them for their good, and

2.  I will bring them back to this land.
