“…………….., ENCOURAGE THE TIMID,……” (SERMON OUTLINE – NT)

“……, ENCOURAGE THE TIMID,…”

We were stuck, sitting in the car and waiting for the service to finish.

We had left the church service earlier to go home only to find our car surrounded by other vehicles.

There was no way out unless driving over the footpath and grass, and that’s what we did not want to do.

A lady I know came along and seeing our problem “ENCOURAGED THE TIMID” with these words, “You can get out here, the grass is pretty firm!”

And that’s what we did!

“……, ENCOURAGE THE TIMID,….”

“‘But how can a mortal be righteous before God?

Job 9:2-14

Intr.:

Though one wished to dispute with him, he could not answer him one time out of a thousand.

1. His wisdom is profound,

2. his power is vast.

3. Who has resisted him and come out unscathed?

4. He  moves mountains without their knowing it and overturns them in his anger.

5. He shakes the earth from its place and makes its pillars tremble.

6. He speaks to the sun and it does not shine;

7. he seals off the light of the stars.

8. He alone stretches out the heavens and treads on the waves of the sea.

9. He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the constellations of the south.

10. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.

11. When he passes me, I cannot see him;

12. when he goes by, I cannot perceive him.

13. If  he snatches away, who can stop him?

14. Who can say to him, ‘What are you doing?’

15. God does not restrain his anger;  even the cohorts of Rahab cowered at his feet.

End:

How then can I dispute with him?

How can I find words to argue with him?'”

1.  YOU alone are the LORD.

2.  YOU made

a. the heavens,

b. even the highest heavens, and

c. all their starry host,

d. the earth and

e. all that is on it,

f. the seas and

g. all that is in them.

3.  YOU give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.

4.  YOU are the LORD God, who chose Abram and brought him out of  Ur of the Chaldeans and named him Abraham.

5.  YOU found his heart FAITHFUL to you, and

6.  YOU made a covenant with him  to give to his descendents the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Jebusites and Girgashites.

7.  YOU have kept your promise because

8. YOU are righteous,

9.  YOU saw the suffering of our forefathers in Egypt;

10.  YOU heard their cry at the Red Sea.

11.  YOU sent miraculous signs and  wonders  against Pharao, against all his officials and all the people of the land,

PART TWO

12. for YOU knew how arrogantly the Egyptians treated them.

13.  YOU made a name for yourself, which remains to this day.

14. YOU devided the sea before them, so that they passed through it on dry ground,

15. but YOU hurled their pursuers into the depth, like a stone into the mighty waters.

16. By day YOU led them with a pillar of cloud, and by night with a pillar of fire to give them light on the way they were to take.

17. YOU came down on mount Sinai;

18. YOU spoke to them from heaven.

19. YOU gave them regulations and laws that are just and right, and decrees and commands that are good.

20. YOU made known to them your holy Sabbath and gave them commands, decrees and laws through your servant Moses.

21. In their hunger YOU gave them bread from heaven and

22. in their thirst YOU brought them water from the rock;

23. YOU told them to go in and take possession of the land

24. YOU had sworn with uplifted  hand to give them.'”
