“Do you have a Good Story to Share?”

werner

Today we received the local paper, the Northern News, and just now I am looking at page 13 and there it says, “Do you have a good story to share? Call us on (Phone number)”. O, how I like questions like that! The print is a little bit small and that’s why I overlooked that note, when I began to prepare this message for Christmas 2009. But I am glad, that I noticed it and yes, I have a good story to share. Just wait!

On the previous page I read, “We are always on the lookout for news stories.” The phone number again and also the email.

That is really good news for me. I like that very much!

But what the editor says on page 6 is tremendously encouraging: “YOUR NEWS COUNTS”. (email again!) Yes, I know, that my news counts. I am really glad to hear that. My NEWS comes from the Bible, the Word of the Living God. It comes from the New Testament, from the Gospel of Luke, Luke chapter 2:1-20:

End: Verses 13+14

———–

I want to finish with the little note on page 2 of the same paper, where it is written that my opinion counts. “Your opinion counts. Send your letters to the Editor, Northern News, (Address).”

Opinions about the stories written in the paper.

It is my opinion, that the GOOD NEWS in the Bible, the Word of the Living God,  is the Greatest Story and the Greatest News!

It has always been the Greatest News. It is now the Greatest News . And it will always be the Greatest News.

Question:

Why don’t we find more about the Greatest News in our Daily papers?

in the days of your youth,

******************

1. before the days of trouble come and

2. the years approach when you will say, ‘I find no pleasure in them’ –

3. before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark and

10. the sound of grinding fades;

11. when men rise up at the sound of birds,

18. Then man goes to his eternal home and

19. mourners go about the street.

End:

This is the first and greatest commandment.

“THIS IS WHAT THE LORD SAYS:

Jeremiah 17:5-8

Intr.:

A. ‘ CURSED IS THE ONE

1. who trusts in man,

2. who depends on flesh for his strength and

3. whose heart turns away from the Lord.

4. He will be like a bush in the wastelands;

5. he will not see prosperity when it comes.

6. He will dwell in the parched places of the desert,

7. in a salt land where no one lives.

B. BUT BLESSED IS THE MAN

1. who trusts in the Lord,

2. whose confidence is in him.

3. He will be like a tree planted by the water

4. that sends out its roots by the stream.

5. It does not fear when heat comes;

6. its leaves are always green.

7. It has no worries in a year of drought

8. and never fails to bear fruit.’ “

End:

“YOUR BODY IS A TEMPLE.”

The marketplace in Kaitaia is in front of the Warehouse on Saturday.

Today I watched there a demonstration of the exercise equipment called HAMMER STRENGTH.

I read that the producer of that machine is LIFE FITNESS. What else did I read there? “Your body is a Temple.” And underneath it said: “Train accordingly.”IMG_0200

“Your body is a temple.” That is right! The BIBLE, the Word of the Living God teaches that our body is a temple.

We are God’s temple and God’s Spirit lives in us. First Corinthians 3:16

If we destroy God’s temple, God will destroy us. God’s temple is sacred. We are God’s temple. First Corinthians 3:17

Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is in us. We have received the Holy Spirit from God. We are not our own. We were bought at a price. We must honor God with our body. First Corinthians 6:19

Summary:

1. We are God’s temple.

2. God’s temple is sacred.

3. God’s Spirit lives in us.

4. We have received the Spirit from God.

5. We are not our own.

6. We were bought at a price.

7. We must honor God with our body.

8. If we destroy God’s temple, God will destroy us.

TWO SINS

brunnen 003

“My people have committed two sins:

— They have forgotten me,

the spring of living water, and

have dug their own cisterns,

broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”

Who knows, where to find that verse in the Bible?
