Matthew 22:35-40

Intr.:

Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

A.  Jesus said unto him , Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy MIND.

This is the first and great commandment.

B.  And the second is like unto it,

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

End:

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

“WE ARE WHAT WE THINK!”

In the magazine called FamilyCARE (Summer 2013) I am reading that the old saying “We are what we think!” is true.

What are you thinking about? Are you thinking about what is:

true, noble, right, pure, lovely admirable, excellent, praiseworthy?

Here is a SERMON OUTLINE with eight points, an introduction and an end.

What is your answer to those  questions?

Leaders and Shepherds

In a letter from The Conservative Party received not long ago I am reading about Democracy.

“DEMOCRACY IN TROUBLE: Where have the true leaders gone?”

I sometimes ask myself the following question:

THE CHURCH IN TROUBLE: Where have the true shepherds gone?

What does the Bible say about shepherds of God’s flock?IMG 0197

“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care,

First Peter 5:2-4

Intr.:

serving as overseers –

1.  not because you must,

but because you are willing, as God wants you to be;

2.  not greedy for money,

but eager to serve;

3.  not lording it over those entrusted to you,

but being examples to the flock.

End:

And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.”

Thank the Lord for the shepherds of God’s flock!

P1060838 150x150“YOU MUST TEACH WHAT IS IN ACCORD WITH SOUND DOCTRINE.” – Titus 2:1

Titus 2:6-9; Titus 2:15

Intr.:

A.  “Similarly, encourage the young men

1.  to be self-controlled.

2.  In everything set them an example by doing what is good.

3. In your teaching show

a.  integrity,

b.  seriousness and

c.  soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.

B.  Teach the slaves

1. to be subject to their masters in everything,

2.  to try to please them,

3.  not to talk back to them, and

4.  not to steal from them,

5.  but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.”

End:

These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
