“Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” – Acts 17:11
The Thessalonians listened with great eagerness to what Paul had to say. But they wanted to know if what they heard was true. In order to find out, they did not only read the Bible, they examined the Scriptures. They did that every day.
The Catholic Church for example teaches that Mary, the mother of the Lord Jesus Christ, never died and was buried. They are teaching that she literally rose in the body into heaven. They call it the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. But you don’t find that in the Scripture.
That is rather an extreme example. But there are also more subtle teachings going around.
That’s why we must read the Bible. We must examine the Word of the Living God!
“Christ doesn’t want you to choose between pouring your life out for the alleviation of unjust human suffering now and pouring out your life to rescue the perishing from everlasting suffering….I don’t want you to choose between these two. Christ is calling us to pull these together.” – John Piper

Have you ever said that to yourself silently or aloud to others?
Where are your eyes, when you say that? I mean where are you looking for help?
Are your problems coming from one front or are they coming from everywhere? If they are coming from everywhere you better write them down one by one and tackle them one by one!
Are you going for help to the police or the government?
I know, if you have an electrical problem in your house you contact an electrician, and if you have trouble with your water, you contact a plumber.
If you have something wrong with your health, you go to your doctor.
But people are still dying.
Where are you going for help, when human beings cannot help any more?
My eyes are upon the Lord!
But in order to have your eyes upon the Lord you must know the Lord. Dethrone yourself and give the Lord Jesus Christ the right place in your life.
Look to him for help always.
I JUST DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO! That’s what you said at the beginning. And I tell you now that that is just not true.
Do you know what you can do? You can sing to the Lord. You can praise the Lord!
Do that, and I am sure that the Lord will help you!
