Violence

There must be lots of violence going on. I picked up three leaflets dealing with the subject. One is especially concerned for children. It says,” If you are in an abusive relationship, teach your child/dren to get out, get help, and call the police on 111 if things boil over.” -The next says that, “Violence happens in many ways.”- “Life doesn’t have to remain like this! Call for help.”- The next leaflet says,” Violence Free begins with me. Together we can make a difference.”

All those leaflets have 2 things in common: 1. They say: “Get help–Call for help–It is OK to ask for help.” One leaflet says that at least 5 times. 2. Two of those leaflets have more than 20 agencies listed where one can ask for help (incl. Phone numbers).

But the most important ‘agency’ is of course not listed.

When are we learning to call upon the Lord? From the Lord comes real help! Here are some Bible verses which encourage us to call upon the Lord: Isaiah 65:24; Isaiah 58:9; Luke 18:7; Romans 8:15; Jonah 2:3.

Also read the Psalms when you are discouraged . The Psalm writers are crying often to the Lord, for example Psalm 130:2.
