Exodus 20:3 — YOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER GODS BESIDES ME

Exodus 20:3

KNEELING DOWN

This morning I saw somebody barefoot, in shorts and singlet hanging on to a waterhose literally kneeling beside his car and brushing it with the greatest vigour I have ever seen.

I was standing in the house looking through the window clothed with a jacket and long trousers and socks on my feet. And I felt even cold inside the house.

It is good for people to clean their cars.

However the thought came to my mind that we are so often bowing down and worshipping material things. We don’t really admit it and we don’t bow our knees literally.

But, —let us rather bow our knees before the Living God, who created the Heaven and the Earth.
