In German we have the saying, “Auch die Spoetter haben ihren Lohn.” The meaning in English is as follows, “Also the mockers will be rewarded in the end.”
I have been a born again believer now for more than fifty years and I love to read the Bible. I must have read Matthew 27:27-31 many many times. But sometimes we read things and don’t read them at all. What I mean is we don’t get the point. We don’t understand what we are reading. And then – all of a sudden it clicks! We are all with it and we get something out of it. The Holy Spirit is teaching us.
Matthew 27:27-31
They stripped him, they put a scarlet robe on him, they twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head, they put a staff in his right hand, they knelt in front of him, they mocked him, they said, “Hail, king of the jews!”, they spit on him, they took the staff and struck him on the head again and again, they took off the robe, they put his own clothes on him, they led him away to crucify him.
12 things they did, if I have counted correctly!
And now please compare this with Colossians 1:16
FOR BY HIM ALL THINGS WERE CREATED: THINGS IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH, VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE, WHETHER THRONES OR POWERS OR RULERS OR AUTHORITIES; ALL THINGS WERE CREATED BY HIM AND FOR HIM.
