“A time for Everything”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)
About ten years ago I was tremendeously blessed by reading the book “Repentance The Joy-Filled Life” by Baselea Schlink. I was really effected by that book and thought others would be also. But after ordering a good number of the books to give to people I learned, that that was not the case. I remember giving one book to a certain person. I expected a certain response, but the response was not forthcoming.
But it is getting worse. I have been a born again believer for more than fifty years now, and not long after the Lord found me, I read a book by Hudson Taylor about the “Song of Songs” in the Bible and I found it ever so exciting and read and read. I picked up the same book some time ago and found it difficult to get something out of it.
At the moment I am reading the book “Revolution in World Missions” by K.P. Yohannan. It is one of the best books I have come across on the subject and I think of course everybody ought to have a copy and read it.
However, I have learned:
I cannot expect others to get excited about the things I am excited about. Even I myself am no longer as effected by the book about the “Song of Songs” by Hudson Taylor as I was once upon a time.
Of course, also teachers on the subjects of “Success” and “Happiness” do have the same problem with motivating people. They call it the mystery of life.
What is the answer to all this? I think, we find the answer in the Bible. There is “A Time for Everything.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
There is a time to be blessed by a certain book and there is a time when you don’t get anything out of the same book! For some people it is the time to be motivated and for others it is a time to say,” I know all about that. I have heard it before.”
However, I will make an effort to let people know about the book by K.P. Yohannan “Revolution in World Missions” (The best I have read so far on the subject) and I hope that some are motivated to read the book.
