I had the privilege to learn the english language from an early age. I remember that one lesson was called “The Troubles of a Truant”. Truancy is still very much alive. You only need to open the newspapers.
Are we not going to school until we die?
As born again believers we are attending the SCHOOL OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST. And I hope we don’t play the truant.
The Lord is our teacher. And sometimes we feel, that the Lord is putting a burden upon us. And he actually does. We do think of course, that the burden from the Lord is doing us harm. Our heart does not really understand. But the Lord has a very good reason for putting a burden upon us. He is our shepherd. And he is a good shepherd. But sometimes he is leading us through deep valleys and dark valleys without a ray of light. But the Lord knows exactly what we need. He knows, what is good for us.
But we don’t like burdens. At least I don’t. We want to do away with them. I want to shake off my burdens. Is that not natural? We want to run away from under them. I don’t want to go to school. I rather play the truant.
Let us read together Hebrews 10:36: ” YOU NEED TO PERSEVERE SO THAT WHEN YOU HAVE DONE THE WILL OF GOD, YOU WILL RECEIVE WHAT HE HAS PROMISED.”
It has been pointed out to me, that the word persevere in the Greek language means “To Remain Under”. The first New Testament was written in the Greek language.
Let us “remain under” the burden as our Lord “remained under” the burden and died for us!
