Retirement

p1060708

The dictionary: retire

to give up or to cause (a person)  to give up his work, esp. on reaching pensionable age.

There is NO pensionable  age for the people of the Lord, and therefore NO giving up of work!

“The HOTTEST Books for Children and Young Adults…”

Today I picked up a little magazine at the local library. It is “The Kiwi kid’s good book guide.” It is a complimentary copy. “The hottest Books for Children and Young Adults- April/May 2009″ are listed.

On the front page is the picture of a boy reading a book . Above the picture it says “New Zealand’s best books.” Underneath is written:”Too good to put down!”

HOT BOOKS?

THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF THE LIVING GOD!!

I’M ON A COMMITTEE!

(I am also on a committee)

From newsletter (Age Concern April 09)

Oh, give me your pity, I’m on a committee

which means that from morning to night,

we attend and amend, and contend and defend

without a conclusion in sight.

We confer and concur, we defer and demur

and reiterate all of our thoughts,

we revise the agenda with frequent addenda

and consider a load of reports.

We compose and propose, we suppose and oppose

and the points of procedure are fun!

But though various notions are brought up as motions,

there’s terribly little gets done!

We resolve and absolve, but never dissolve

since it’s out of the question for us.

What a shattering pity to end our committee,

where else could we make such a fuss?

Wisdom from a 7 year old:

I found this in a newsletter (Age Concern April 2009)

“A little 7 year old was asked by his harassed mother why he was always so bright and cheerful in the mornings. His reply:  “The first thing I put on in the morning is  a smile.”

What does the Bible say in Romans 13:14?
