“WHAT YOUR HOME’S REALLY WORTH”

In one of the restaurants here in town I see the New Zealand Herald of today and written on the front page is, “What your home’s really worth.” I don’t know about you, but I am very much interested. Why? I am reminded of my Heavenly Home and my Heavenly Citizenship.

My own copy of  The New Zealand Herald of today is soon in a plastic bag and I am on my short way home.

Coming towards me are two young people with big badges. In my conversation with them I find out, that they are from the Crime Prevention Kaitaia office, called the FAR NORTH SAFER COMMUNITY COUNCIL, patrolling the streets of our town.

What an opportunity to tell them about the Lord Jesus Christ, to proclaim the gospel.

I remember also the paper of today in my plastic bag and the words  “What your home’s really worth.” When I am telling them about my Heavenly Home, their eyes beginning to shine, and I see a smile on their faces.

At home, looking closer at “What your home’s really worth” , I find out, that that is the headline of the FREE 28-page magazine called  “The New Zealand Herald Property Report, a quarterly guide on house prices and great places to live.”

“What your home is worth now.”

The Bible, the Word of the Living God has a lot to say about our Heavenly Home.

The Heavenly Home is the final dwelling place of the saints. Here are some verses from the Bible about our Heavenly Home: Matthew 6:20; Luke 10:20; John 14:2; Acts 7:55;  Second Corinthians 5:1; Revelation 7:9; Revelation 22:14

Read more about the heavenly Home in Revelation chapter 21.

“The great street of the city was of pure gold,…” Revelation 21:21

“The Cross For Christians”

“The proclamation of the gospel is still the desperate need of men today. We are never going to reverse the moral trends without a spiritual awakening, and we are never going to have a spiritual awakening until the cross of Jesus Christ is central in all our teaching, preaching and practice.” – Billy Graham

“I never got away from Jesus and Him crucified. And I found that when my people were gripped by this great evangelical doctrine of  Christ and Him crucified, I had no need to give them instructions about morality. I found that one followed as the sure inevitable fruit of the other.” – David Brainerd

“We have been trying for several centuries to uphold a particular standard of ethical values which derives from Christian dogma, while gradually dispensing with the very dogma which is the sole foundation for those values. If we want Christian behavior, then we must realize that Christian behavior is rooted in Christian belief.” – Dorothy Sayers

“There are no crown-wearers in heaven who were not cross-bearers here below.” – C. H. Spurgeon

“On what are you basing your confidence,…..?”

In chapter 32 of 2 Chronicles Sennacherib is threatening Jerusalem and in a message to king Hezekiah he is writing: “On what are you basing your confidence, that you remain in Jerusalem under siege?”

King Hezekiah is basing his confidence of course on the Lord his God!

On what are you basing your confidence?

“Take a journey with confidence from…” That is the headline of a car advertisement. In smaller letters we are told about the safety rating and that our family will be safe and sound on the next journey. We are encouraged to get behind the wheel today, get on the road today and start our journey…….. with confidence.

I have started my journey with confidence long ago!

I can say with the Psalmist:

“For you have been my hope, O  Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth.” – Psalm 71:5

Proverbs 3:26; Proverbs 3:32

“SAFE STRONG FAMILIES”

“child, youth and family” is a service of the Ministry of Social Development. On one of the walls of the “child, youth and family” office here in the town of Kaitaia you can see written in big letters:

“SAFE STRONG FAMILIES”.

Our country is crying out for safe and strong families!

Almost opposite the “child , youth and family” office here on Commerce (main street of our town) Street you find the Women’s Refuge place. At the present time you can see a big poster there in the window. On the poster is written:  “This is a no hitting place.”

We are crying out for “safe and strong families.”

In order to really have “safe and strong families” our families must first of all be saved. How is that going to happen?

It starts usually with individual family members.

There is a wonderful promise in the Bible, the Word of the Living God. We do find the promise in the New Testament in the book of Acts. Please read Acts chapter 16. In Acts 16:16-40 we find Paul and Silas in prison. In verse 29 the trembling jailer is calling for lights and asking, “SIRS, WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?” Acts 16:29

And in Acts 16:30 Paul and Silas are replying,

“BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS, AND YOU WILL BE SAVED – YOU AND YOUR HOUSEHOLD.”
