NEW ZEALAND TODAY! Part One

“It isn’t wicked to be reduced to rags.

It is not a sin to starve, to pawn the few sticks of  furniture to buy fuel and to pay the rent.

It is a misfortune that comes to people, honest and good people, in hard times, or when work is hard to get.

It is such people that the [Salvation Army’s] social scheme means to help.” – William Booth, Salvation Army Founder (War Cry  30. 07. 2011)

NEW ZEALAND TODAY:

Question number one:

Are people having  hard times at the present ime in New Zealand?

Question number two:

Are people finding it hard to get work at the present time in New Zealand?

PRAY!

“BETET, FREIE SCHWEIZER, BETET!” (aus der Nationalhymne)

It means that Switzerland is the land of the free and the free people of Switzerland are encouraged to pray. (from the national anthem)

This is how a prayer letter from Switzerland begins:

To encourage each other to pray as  Christians? Yes that’s what we need – our nationality does not matter – again and again! Let us new discover the privileges we have through our Lord Jesus Christ:

— We belong to the family of  God.

— Through him we have real FREEDOM.

— We can expect great things from HIM.

QUIET TIME

OUR QUIET TIME

Students at the Bible College I went to in Germany were obligated to keep the QUIET TIME every morning. If we did not for one reason or another we had to write NO on the sheet of paper provided and that paper had to be handed in at the office.

What is the purpose of the Quiet Time?

In his book ONE HUNDRED BIBLE LESSONS Alban Douglas gives two.

Fellowship with God is the basic purpose of the Quiet Time he says. He writes, that God desires this communion even more than we do. He writes on page 153 in his book:

“I’VE OBSERVED HOW LOVERS LIKE TO BE TOGETHER. ‘I’M IN LOVE WITH THE LOVER OF MY SOUL.'”

He continues to say that the second purpose might be strength for the day. He quotes Ephesians 6:12, “For we struggle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,…”, and says that the life of a Christian is a battle. Against what? Against sin. Against the world. Against the devil.

“D. E. Hoste said that they never knew which candidates that arrived in the Mission field would do well in the years to come, for it all depended on how well they guarded the Quiet Time.” – Alban Douglas.

“…..STAND OUT….”

“….STAND OUT….”

Stand out with a typeset ad,”  I am reading in our local phone book. But that is not all. It says also, “Consider adding colour to stand out even more.”

“Typeset ads give you more options within you alphabetical listing. Text colours available are black, red, blue and green.”

This world is full of  crooked people. This world is full of perverse people. Do you agree? It is good that you agree. The Bible says so!

True followers of the Lord Jesus Christ must stand out in this generation that is crooked and depraved.

True followers of the Lord must shine like bright lights. True followers of the Lord must shine like stars.

How can we do that? How can we stand out?

We are children of God. Our lives must be clean. Our lives must be innocent. We must do everything without complaining. We must do everything without arguing. Nobody can criticize us, if we do everything without arguing and complaining.

Most of all we must hold firmly to the Bible, the Word of the Living God.

Where is YOUR Home?

WHERE IS YOUR HOME?

“This world is not my home, I’m just a-passing through,..” is a hymn in the REDEMPTION HYMNS hymnal.

The word HEAVEN is mentioned in all three verses and twice in the chorus. ” And all three verses and the chorus ending with:  “…. and I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.”

I hope you are now inspired to find the hymn somewhere and not only read it, but also sing it, if you can sing!

I don’t need to tell you about this world. You read the papers. You listen to the radio. You watch televison.

Let us remember that satan is the god of this world. Second Corinthians 4:4

Do you feel at home in this world? I don’t feel at home in this world anymore.

My home is heaven.

In a very old book written by H. L. Gee GOOD IN EVERYTHING I am reading:

“In the remote parts of the countryside old people still say of those who die, THEY HAVE GONE HOME.” –

Earl Baldwin

“In a quiet churchyard in Sussex is a simple grave which bears this lovely inscription: Gone home with a friend.” –

Rev. William J. May

I notice that it says “Gone home with a friend” and not Gone home to a friend.
