“DILMAH IS A VERY SPECIAL TEA.”

“Dilmah is a very special tea.”

On a crushed empty DILMAH  tea box I picked up from our kitchen floor I am reading:

“Dilmah is a very special tea. Its founder has dedicated his life to tea, and he has mastered the art of tea making. He guides his family business with care, pride and passion. YOU CAN’T BUY THAT!!”

What particular purpose or cause are you devoted (dedicated) to?

I devoted myself to serving the Lord Jesus Christ:

IN THAILAND (WEC INTERNATIONAL, “reaching people planting churches”)

I worked as a missionary in Thailand from Christmas 1966 to Christmas 1979 in the provinces Tak and Kamphengphet.

Chachoengsao:  Distributing Gideon Bibles

Picture/Alan Collingwood

IN NEW ZEALAND (UNITED MAORI MISSION)

We began our work in Kaitaia at the end of 1980 and after a short time in Kaitaia we moved to Kaikohe, where we stayed until I retired at the end of 2004.

Let me ask once more:

What particular purpose or cause are you devoted (dedicated) to?

Sermon Outline – OT – (NIV)

“Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king.

First Samuel 8:10-18

Intr.:

He said, ‘This is what the king who will reign over you will do:

1.  He will take your sons and

a. make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots.

b.  Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and

c.  others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still

d.  others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots.

2.  He will take your daughters to be

a. perfumers and

b. cooks and

c. bakers.

3.  He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants.

4.  He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants.

5.  Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle and donkeys he will take for his own use.

6.  He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves.

End:

When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day.”

Sermon Outline – OT (NIV)

“……. JOEL AND ……… ABIJA, …… SERVED AT BEERSHEBA.” (First Samuel 8:2)

First Samuel 8:3

Intr.:

“But his sons did not walk in his ways.

1. They turned aside after dishonest gain and

2. accepted bribes and

3. perverted justice.”

End:

“I believe……..”

“These words were found penned on the wall of a prison cell  in Europe:

‘I believe in the sun even when it is not shining.

I believe in love even when I don’t feel it.

I believe in God even when He is silent.'” –
