HE IS LEARNED THAT IS WELL GROUNDED IN THE BIBLE, FOR ONE TEXT AND SENTENCE OUT OF IT IS OF FAR MORE ESTEEM AND VALUE THAN MANY WRITINGS AND GLOSSES, WHICH NEITHER ARE STRONG, SOUND, NOR ARMOUR OF PROOF.” – Martin Luther

Promises!

“‘We’ve heard promises time and time again, but the time for promises has passed. We now have no confidence in those making the promises.” Horahora School Principal Pat Newman.'”

I am reading that in our loal paper. (The Northland Age, Tuesday, December 18, 2012)

The staff  payroll system for teachers introduced this year in  August causes problems. It is still full of errors. Teachers are overpaid, underpaid and pay increases are not being actioned. That’s why one “principal calls for heads to roll”.

Whenever I hear about promises, I think about the promises in the Bible. The time for the promises in the Bible has not passed and will never pass.

Here are six precious promises:

1.  Hebrews 13, 5,6 The Lord promises HELP in need.

2. Isaiah 41:10 The Lord promises STRENGTH in weakness.

3. Psalm 32:8 The Lord promises INSTRUCTION and COUNSEL in perplexity.

4. Isaiah 66:12 The Lord promises PEACE in trouble.

5. Isaiah 61:3 The Lord promises GLADNESS in mourning.

6. Acts 1:4-8 The Lord promises POWER in the work for Him.

I have full confidence in the allmighty God who is making all those promises!

P1060838-150x150“King Herod heard about this,

Mark 6:14-16

Intr.:

for Jesus’ name had become well known.

1.  Some were saying,

“John the Baptist has been raised from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him.’

 2.  Others said,

‘He is Elijah.’

3.  And still others claimed,

‘He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of long ago.’

End:

But when Herod heard this, he said,’ John, the man I beheaded, has been raised from the dead!'”
