POWER!

wernerweb-150x150“The greatness of a man’s power is the measure of his surrender,” it says on the front page of a church newsletter, I have with me. The above is a quote by William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army.

The word surrender means to give up control of …. according to the Collins English Dictionary. Here we are talking about to give up control of our lives. I don’t need to tell you that the words yield and submit also mean surrender.

The following four verses from the Bible are teaching about surrender. Please notice the words yield and submit.

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” – James 4:7 (NIV)

“Moreover, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we yielded [to them] and respected [them for training us]. Shall we not much more cheerfully submit to the Father of spirits and so [truly] live?” – Hebrews 12:9 (The Amplified Bible)

“… Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, …” – Ephesians 5:23,24 (NIV)

Do not continue offering or yielding your bodily  members [and faculties] to sin as instruments (tools) of wickedness.

But offer and yield yourselves to God as though you have been raised from the dead to [perpetual] life, and your bodily members [and faculties] to God, presenting them as implements of righteousness.” – Romans 6:13 (The Amplified Bible)

Alexander MacLaren says this about self-sacrifice:

“All along the Christian course, there must be set up altars to God on which you sacrifice yourself, or you will never advance a step.”

Have you ever sung the hymn I SURRENDER ALL by Judson W. Van De Venter? The hymn has three verses and the chorus goes like this:

“I surrender all, I surrender all, All to You, my blessed Saviour, I surrender all.”

It is easy to sing, but do we really mean it, when we sing it?

“… more than $32 billion …”

YOUR PLASTIC FANTASTIC

YOUR PLASTIC FANTASTIC

“Kiwis spend more than $32 billion on credit and charge cards per year.

MWE Consulting Card Report March 2013″

I am finding that information in the Kiwibank brochure called:

“Your Plastic Fantastic. Kiwibank’s full range of credit and debit cards.”

The Bible says in Romans 13:8:

“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.”

“THE BOOK OF BOOKS” again!

“STUDY YOURSELF SILLY” and “We’ll save you some bucks while you hit the books,” I am reading on the front cover of a Kiwibank brochure, which is all about the Kiwibank “Tertiary Pack”.

While thinking about that, I am asking myself the question: “How many people are going to hit “THE BOOK OF BOOKS” today here in  Kaitaia, where I live, in New Zealand and in the whole world?

THE AMPLIFIED BIBLE

THE AMPLIFIED BIBLE

I don’ think there are any statistics, but the Lord knows how many people worldwide are reading his word, the BIBLE, today.

In the book called 1000 NEW BIBLE READINGS  by Dr. F. E. Marsh I am finding the following Bible reading on the Bible:

BIBLE

B  Beautiful in its language – Psalm 23

I   Incorruptible in its nature – First Peter 1:23

B  Blessed in its bestowments – Psalm 32

L  Loving in its message – John 3:16

E  Enlightening in its guidance – Psalm 119:105

If you say, “I don’t understand the Bible,” ask the Lord Jesus Christ to open your mind. In the gospel of Luke it says almost at the end:

“Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.” – Luke 24:45

I read the Bible today, I read chapter 36 in the book called Isaiah. It is the chapter where Sennacherib threatens Jerusalem,
