The Silent Generation (68-88)

What a surprise it was for me to find out this morning, that my generation is the Silent Generation (68-88)! It really was.

Other age-groups are Generation Y (18-33 year-olds), Generation X (34-48 year-olds), and the Baby Boomers (49-67). (The Generation Y are called the Millennial Generation in the United States.)

I read the Bible and in the Bible we read about “this evil generation”. (Deuteronomy 1:35) In Matthew 12:39 the Lord Jesus Christ speaks about a “‘wicked and adulterous generation'”. In Matthew 17:17 the Lord says to the people “‘unbelieving and perverse generation'” and he asks two questions:

1. “‘How long shall I stay with you?'”

2. “‘How long shall I put up with you?'”

In Acts 2:40 we are told: “‘Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.'” And in his letter to the Philippians the apostle Paul is admonishing the Philippians to “do everything without complaining and arguing” and to “shine like stars”. Why? Because they live “in a crooked and depraved generation”.

I don’t know why my generation is called the Silent Generation. (Maybe someone can tell me.)

I certainly do no want to be silent, when it comes to being a witness for the Lord. Please read Acts 1:8 and  Matthew 10:32,33.

The 2013 Local Government Elections

wernerweb-150x150“Our debt is too high,” says one candidate who is standing for Whangarei Mayor in the 2013 local government elections on October 12.

Another candidate who stands for Whangarei Mayor says, “Whangarei First” and “My only agenda is to put Whangarei first.” NORTHLAND ELECTION GUIDE (Northern Advocate, Tuesday, September 17, 2013)

Whenever I come across the word DEBT I remember what it says about debt in the Bible. In Romans 13:8 we read, “Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.”

MY ONLY ADENDA IS TO PUT THE LORD JESUS CHRIST FIRST.

It says in Matthew 6:33:

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
