THE CROSS

THE CROSS

“Now these things occurred as examples

First Corinthians 10:6-11

Intr.:

to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.

1.  Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: ‘The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry.’

2.  We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did – and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.

3.  We should not test the LORD, as some of them did – and were killed by snakes.

4.  And do not grumble, as some of them did – and were killed by the destroying angel.

End:

These thing happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, …”

TAUMATAWHA… Longest Place Name in the World.

TAUMATAWHAKATANGIHANGAKOAUAUAOTAMATEATURIPUKAKAPIKIMAUNGAHORONUKUPOKAIWHENUAKITANATAHU

It took me a long time to write that word, and I hope I have written the longest place name in the world correctly.

From the beginning of 1981 until the end of 2004 we worked as missionaries in the north of New Zealand. (United Maori Mission) During that time I remember hearing about that longest place name in the world.

And today I am finding out more about it in the magazine called ECLIPSE, Issue 02 / 2013. The meaning of the word is “summit of the mountain” and the sign of the longest place name of the world is near Waipukurau in southern Hawke’s Bay.

This longest place name is still in use and is recorded as such in the Guinness World Records.

And there is no doubt that it will take me even longer to memorize  the longest place name in the world than to write it.

PLAN, HOPE AND AMBITION OF THE APOSTLE PAUL

werner-150x150-e1367980712224PLAN, HOPE AND AMBITION OF THE APOSTLE PAUL.

“Is W E C still reaching the unreached?” (W E C stands for Worldwide Evangelisation for Christ.)

The International Director of W E C was asked that question.

Reaching the unreached is very much on my heart, and while thinking about the above question I was led to read the following verses in the BIBLE.

The Scriptures tell us about the Plan of the apostle Paul, his Hope and his Ambition.

THE PLAN OF THE APOSTLE PAUL

In Romans 15:21 the apostle says, “I have been following the plan spoken of in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘Those who have never been told about him will see, and those who have never heard about him will understand.'” (Isaiah 52:15)

THE HOPE OF THE APOSTLE PAUL

In Second Corinthians 10:15 Paul says, “Instead, we hope that your faith will grow so that the boundaries  of our work among you will be extended.”

THE AMBITION OF THE APOSTLE PAUL

In Second Corinthians 10:16 he continues to teach, “Then we will be able to go and preach the Good News in other places far beyond you, where no one else is working.” And finally in Romans 15:20  Paul speaks about his ambition, “My ambition has always been to preach the Good News where the name of Christ has never been heard, rather than where a church has already been started by someone else.”

W E C International is an inter-denominational family and I belong to that family, and I must find out where the unreached people groups are!
