COPING WITH STRESS

werner-150x150-e1367980712224“Be thankful. Spend at least five minutes each day focusing on all the things for which you’re grateful, and take time to reflect.”

I am reading that in the magazine called “LUCKY BREAK” (September 9 2013).

That is tip number five nutrition expert Dr Libby Weaver gives to “Control stress levels”.

Coping with stress, “modern-day stress and strain,” seems to be in the news today and for very obvious reasons, and we are looking for ways to control stress levels.

I find it very interesting that “Be thankful” is one of the tips from the nutrition expert.

The BIBLE goes even a step further:

The Bible does not only teach to focus on the things for which we are thankful, but the Bible says to be thankful for everything. And everything means of course everything!

Here are the exact words as you find them in the Bible:

“BE JOYFUL ALWAYS;

PRAY CONTINUALLY;

GIVE THANKS IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES,

FOR THIS IS GOD’S WILL FOR YOU IN CHRIST JESUS.”

– First Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)

Fishing

On one of the calendars I received this year I find the following information in the lower right corner (FEBRUARY 2014):

FISHING

FISHING

People who love fishing will be especially interested in the “Good Day for Fishing”.

In the BIBLE we are reading also about fishermen.

The names of the fishermen are Simon, Andrew, James and John.

Simon is also called Peter and Simon and Andrew are brothers. James and John are also brothers and their father is called Zebedee. Their fishing ground is the Sea of Galilee.

Simon and Andrew were casting a net into the lake when the Lord Jesus Christ called them and James and John were in the boat preparing their nets. Their father Zebedee was also present.

‘”Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will make you fishers of men.'”

I notice that it says in the Bible that Simon and Andrew followed the Lord “at once” and James and John left the boat “immediately”.

The four fishermen knew all the good days for fishing, the fair days for fishing and the days when not to go fishing.

But from now on they did not need to worry about all that any more. They were now fishers of men and Paul says in Second Corinthians 6:2

“I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor now is the day of salvation.”
