“Know it before you need it”

That is the message on the advertisement I am looking at (Coffee News, Vol 156:5).

The ad tells us that the Red Cross is training people in FIRST AID. It says there also that the Red Cross leads the world in First Aid Training.

“Know it before you need it.”

We cannot know enough and we cannot learn enough.

But there is one thing we really need to know and learn and that is the Teaching of the Bible.

The Bible tells us that THE DUTY OF THE PARENTS is training the children in THE WAY THEY SHOULD GO.

In John 14:6 the Lord Jesus Christ says that he is the WAY. He is not only the Way, he is also the TRUTH and the LIFE.

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”

You may never need your First Aid Training, but you need the Lord Jesus Christ.

SPIRITS

wernerweb-150x150We must be careful what we believe.

There are many spirits calling for our attention. The question is, are they from God or are they not from God? We are told in the Bible to test them.

RIGHT TEACHING

There is the Spirit of truth. The Spirit of truth is also the Spirit of God.

The Spirit of truth believes in the Virgin Birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.

One purpose why the Lord Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem was to reveal God. Another to become the mediator between God and man. Another to save us. Another to rescue the whole creation.

Let us make sure that we don’t only teach this wonderful truth at Christmas, but every day of the year.

Right Teaching, Right Living.

WRONG TEACHING

But there is also the spirit of error.

The spirit of error is the spirit of the antichrist. We have heard that the spirit of the antichrist is coming, but the fact is that he is here already.

The spirit of error is proclaimed by the false prophets. There are quite a good number in this world.

The spirit of error does not believe in the Virgin Birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Wrong Teaching, Wrong Living.

Are you listening to the right teaching, or are you listening to the wrong teaching?

Remember:

Wrong Teaching, Wrong Living!

Right Teaching, Right Living!

FOODIE

“So, you care about what goes into your body?” it says on the back of the packet of potato crisps.

What a good question!

Potato Crisps

Another good question is, “So, you care about what goes into your mind?”

Food for the body and food for the mind.

Since I am more familiar and more interested in the food that provides mental nourishment or stimulus, I want to tell you about what I know about the food for the mind.

In “THE BOOK OF BOOKS” we read, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

How do we do that?

I am reading the Good Book from cover to cover usually in the morning at least one chapter a day. Yesterday I read Deuteronomy chapter 13. Chapter 13 is all about “Worshiping other Gods”.

But I read also Devotional Books. The authors are Billy Graham, C. H. Spurgeon and others.

And yes, I care about what goes into my body.

But I care even more about what goes into my mind.

I hope you do too.

Colossians 3:2

We must look beyond the Bunny

“He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way. He lives, He lives, SALVATION to impart! You ask me how I know he lives? He lives within my heart.”

That is the chorus of the hymn “He Lives” by Alfred H. Ackley. He lived from 1887-1960.

We must look beyond the Bunny

We must look beyond the Bunny

There are many evidences of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The testimony of millions who have proved Him  to be a living Saviour is one of the evidences.

Alfred H. Ackley has proved him to be a living Saviour. I have also proved him to to be a living Saviour. What about you?

What is the foundation doctrine of the New Testament? It is the doctrine of the resurrection and the doctrine of the resurrection is mentioned 104 times in the New Testament.

There is only one religion with a living originator and that is Christianity. And I don’t really need you to tell you that Buddha is dead, that Mohammed is dead, that Brahma is dead, and that Marx is dead.

And this is the first verse of the hymn “HE LIVES” by Alfred H. Ackley:

I serve a risen Saviour; He’s in the world today. I know that he is living, whatever men may say; I see his hand of mercy, I hear his voice of cheer, and just the time I need him He’s always near.”

I am also serving a risen Saviour. I hope you do too!

TUNE CARRIERS, GRUDGE CARRIERS

werner-150x150“my mother always told me …, ” it says in the magazine “that’s life!” on page 4. (Issue 35 September 3, 2012)

A reader writes that her mother always told her,

“IT’S BETTER TO CARRY A TUNE THAN TO CARRY A GRUDGE.”

WHAT DOES “THE BOOK OF BOOKS” SAY ABOUT THE TUNE CARRIERS?

Very much. This is what I found in the Psalms:

David says in Psalm 27, “I will sing and make music to the LORD.” (Psalm 27:6) David is full of music.

In Psalm 57 he says again, “I will sing and make music.” (Psalm 57:7)

In Psalm 92 at the very beginning the Psalmist says, “It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most high.” (Psalm 92:1)

And listen to David again, “My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my soul.” (Psalm 108:1)

WHAT DOES “THE BOOK OF BOOKS” SAY ABOUT THE GRUDGE CARRIERS?

I don’t find very much. This is what the Bible says:

Leviticus 19:18 says, “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, …” (NIV)

Read also Psalm 59:15; James 5:8; First Peter 4:8; Second Corinthians 9:7 in the Authorized (King James) Version.

Someone observed that

“Some people never sing; they die with all their music inside them.”

Are that the people who are carrying grudges?
