Quote

Do not address yourselves to prayer as a work to be accomplished in your own natural strength. It is a work of God, of God the Holy Spirit, a work of His in you and by you, and in which you must be fellow-workers with Him.” – Archbishop Trench

Praise

Praise from God or from people?

From time to time we read in our newspapers that the community is praising certain people.

Whenever I read about praises like that, I remember what the Lord Jesus Christ says in John 5:44:

“How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God.”

Make “effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God.”

Sermon Outline – OT – NIV

THE CROSS

THE CROSS

“The officers shall say

Deuteronomy 20: 5-9

to the army:

1.  ‘Has anyone build a new house …

2.  Has anyone planted a vineyard …

3.  Has anyone become pledged to a woman …

Let him go home and, or he may die in battle and someone else marry her.’

Then the officers shall add,

4.  ‘Is any man afraid or fainthearted? Let him go home …’

End:

When the officers have finished speaking to the army, they shall appoint commanders over it.”
