Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like slavery and apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings.” – Nelson Mandela

CHANGE
“Change the government,” I am reading on the front page in big letters of the first edition of MANA News. (Issue 1, April 2014)
I found the paper in our letter box yesterday.
That is not the first call for change I have read.
In Matthew 18:3 in the Bible we are reading the words of the Lord Jesus Christ and he says, “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
The King James Version says, “Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter the kingdom of God.”
But in the first issue of MANA News it says also on the same page: “But it won’t be enough just to change the government. We need a government which will seriously tackle …”
What we really need is to change our minds, we need to change our ways. Our hearts need to be changed within us.
We need to be converted!
“AS ONE MAN”
“As one man,” it says three times in the verses one to eleven in Judges chapter twenty, and I am listening.
(Judges is the name of one book in the Bible.)
Something awful, a lewd act, vileness has happened.
When that disgraceful act happened the Israelites came out, they assembled, they rose, they got together, they united “as one man” against whom?
“As one man” they fought the Benjamites.
TRUTH
“What is truth?” Pilate asked. You can read that in the Gospel of John. (John 18:38)
Some time ago I read something about death in one of my books I have not forgotten.
I cannot find the page where I read it in the book even after looking for quite some time. (Maybe one day I find the page.)
But this is what I remember:
It was either a broadcast about certain themes or just talking about certain themes. Apparently the broadcasts were very popular with many listeners until there was a discussion about death. The listeners dwindled all of a sudden.
The truth is that all of us are going to die.
But not only that, the truth is that we are not only going to die, but the Bible says,
“Just as man is destined to die once, and after that judgment, …” (Hebrews 9:27)
But do we want to know the truth?
Do you?
