WHY DO WE NEED TO LOOK AFTER THE PLANET?

“Why do we need to look after the Planet?” I asked today at the Far North Environment Centre here in Kaitaia.

The answer was readily given and also kindly written down for me. I requested to write the answer down, because I did not want to forget it.

And here is the reason for asking the question at the Centre:

In THE SALVATION ARMY magazine called WarCry (Issue 6593), I am reading about a GIVEAWAY. A book with the title IN THE EYE OF THE STORM by Sir John Houghton is to be won. It is an autobiography.

In order to win a copy of the book IN THE EYE OF THE STORM the question Why do we need to look after the Planet? is to be answered.

As you can well imagine after leaving the Environment Centre, I am really thinking about the answer to that question.

Arriving at our home I am looking up Genesis 1:28, where God says:

“‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and SUBDUE it. RULE over the fish of the sea and the birds  of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.'”

The words “SUBDUE” and “RULE”  in that verse are important to me. I looked the two words up in the dictionary and read the meanings of the the two words.

Listen to what Tom McMillan says:

“For 200 years we’ve been CONQUERING Nature. Now we’re beating it to death.”

And this is the written answer I received at the Far North Environment Centre today:

“Humans cannot survive without the Planet, that’s why we should look after the Planet.”

"Partnering with you for a better environment"
