WAR CRY GIVEAWAY
To win a copy of Something Better, tell us one of your earliest happy memories.
Thinking about it a few happy memories have come to my mind already, but I want to tell you about my first happy memory:
It was when I passed from darkness to light in my teens. That was when as a sinner I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ or rather the Lord accepted me.
I read that actually at that moment 38 things happened to me, but I was only conscious of a great happiness.
Please let me know if you want a list of those 38 things.
“Jesus is the reason for the Season”
It is still three long months until Christmas. That is why the advertisement I am looking at surprises me a bit.
The advert encourages traders to concentrate on the Christmas Trade.
Pool Companies, people who care for lawns and landscapers are told that they need to advertise now.
People who wash houses, renovators and home services are told not to leave it too late to get their messages to their markets.
Can I encourage you to concentrate on the Christmas Story?
The Collins Concise Dictionary says that Christmas is “the annual commemoration by Christians of the birth of Jesus Christ, on December 25.”
The birth of the Lord Jesus Christ is recorded in the Bible in the book of Luke, chapter two in the verses one to seven.
The virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ is foretold in the Old Testament.
I have mentioned already the historic fulfillment in Luke 2:4-7.
What does the Bible say about the purpose of the virgin birth?
Here are four things:
1. John 1:18: Jesus came to reveal God the Father.
2. First Timothy 2:5: There is a chasm between God and man. The Lord Jesus Christ is the bridge over the chasm.
3. Hebrews 2:14,16: The Lord Jesus Christ came to save us!
4. Romans 8:19-22: The Lord Jesus Christ came to rescue the whole creation.
Maybe I should not be surprised about the advertisement that encourages Traders to concentrate on the Christmas Trade. I hope you are not surprised about me encouraging you to concentrate on the Christmas Story, the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.
