Prayer for those in Authority

AT THE BEACH

We are reading in  First Timothy 2:1,2:

“I urge , then, first of all, that requests, prayers , intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

Are we doing all that for those in authority?

“I have lived, sir, a long time, and the longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of the truth: that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, it is probably that an empire cannot rise without His aid.” – Benjamin Franklin, when addressing the chairman of the Constitutional Convention, meeting at Philadelphia in 1787.

“I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My own wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for the day.” – Abraham Lincoln

Reading the two above quotes helps me to make requests and prayers for those in authority.

“Plug into the POWER of Prayer”

When I read “plug into the power of prayer” today, I was reminded of what Dr. Donald Grey Barnhouse said.

He said:

“I am not so sure that I believe in the ‘power of prayer,’ but I believe in the power of the Lord, who answers prayer.”

OMNIPOTENCE

is one of God’s unique characteristics. (attributes)

Genesis 1:1 tells us about His creative power.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Genesis 1:3 tells us about His power by speaking.

“And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”

If He would not possess all power He could not be God.
