BOOKS FOR COMPANY

SOUTH by E. Shackleton

SOUTH by E. Shackleton

“Keep a good book for company,” encourages me the column called “Look who’s talking!” in one of our local papers. (Northern News, June 3, 2015)

The good book that keeps me company at the present time is called SOUTH, The Endurance Expedition by Ernest Shackleton.

The GOOD BOOK that keeps me company all the time is the BIBLE!

The Collins Concise Dictionary  tells me that GOOD BOOK is a name for the Bible.

NAMES

"THE BOOK OF BOOKS"

“THE BOOK OF BOOKS”

That I can have my name included on the nation’s flag pole informs me the leaflet called:

“WHAT DO WE STAND FOR?”

“Flag Consideration Project.”

“ETCH YOUR NAME IN HISTORY

When you share what you stand for you can also have your name included on our nation’s flag pole, and when New Zealand decides its flag, it will fly there.”

The Bible tells me about the Book of life of the slaughtered lamb in which my name is written ‘from the foundation of the world.’  Please read Revelation 17:8

To win a copy of Love Languages, tell us what your “love language” is.

I love languages, but this is the first time in my life that I hear about Love Languages.

Apparently there are five:

1. words of affirmation,

2. quality time,

3. receiving gifts,

4. acts of service, and

5. physical touch.

Receiving gifts is my “love language”.

WHAT DO YOU STAND FOR?

What do I stand for?

“I stand for helping out your neighbours,” it says on the placard, an elderly man is holding in his hands. The placard of a little girl standing beside her mother says, “I stand for Green Everywhere.” A man with his two boys beside him is holding the poster, “I stand for Whanau!” (Whanau is family.)

How glad I am to see the pictures with those placards in the leaflet called:

“WHAT DO WE STAND FOR?”

“Flag Consideration Project.”

There is talk again about changing the New Zealand flag. In the leaflet it says that “this is the first time in history that all New Zealanders will have a say in the design of the New Zealand Flag.”

I stand for the Lord Jesus Christ and sing with the hymnwriter George Duffield:

“Stand up, stand up for Jesus!

You soldiers of the cross;”
