“It pays to pray out loud before meals!”

"It pays to pray out loud before meals!"

“It pays to pray out loud before meals!”

“In a hotel in Germany my wife and I were having lunch so as usual I gave thanks. A young couple a few tables down heard me and came up to us after the meal. They were so glad to have met other Christians, that they invited us to their home. We went. He was a dentist and said if I ever needed dental work done, he would do it free of charge. We’ve taken advantage of that offer many times. It pays to pray out loud before meals!” – Ernie Klassen

FATHER’S DAY 2016

Father’s Day, Sunday, September 4, 2016.

"I dared to call him father"

“I dared to call him father”

“I DARED TO CALL HIM FATHER,” by Bilquis Sheikh is the book I am currently reading.

The author writes that she felt sure, that no Muslim thought of Allah as his father. From a very early age she had been taught how to know about Allah. Three things:

  1. To think on the Quran.
  2. To study the Quran.
  3. To pray five times a day.

We Christians talk to God as if he were our father. In Matthew 6:9-15 the Lord Jesus Christ tells us how to pray:

“Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed (kept holy) be your name.”

STRESS

Inspiration and notes gleaned from the book “Lass dein Heil uns schauen” by Wilhelm Busch, page 165.

“STRESS IS CAUSED BY BEING ‘HERE’ BUT WANTING TO BE ‘THERE’,” says Eckhardt Tolle.

Our hearts are restless. We are never completely happy. Something is always lacking.

HEART

HEART

If our life is quite calm, we are looking for some action. If we are experiencing storms in our life, we are longing for calmer days.

Is that your story at the moment?

If we are at home, we want to be abroad. If we are overseas, we are feeling homesick.

I ask again, is that your situation at the present time?

Is it it not the wish of some young men to possess a motorbike? And once they have a bike, they find that a motorbike is not so good when it is raining. They are wishing for a car. Once they have a small car, they are going all over the place, but they are annoyed that the big cars are overtaking them. Now they want a bigger car. Money is saved up to buy a BMW. Soon a BMW is not quick enough and they are thinking of flying a helicopter.

Something is always lacking. Human beings are like that.

“I shall not want,” says David at the beginning of Psalm 23.

The heart of David is at rest. He was able to say ‘Yes’ to his life. Why did he experience peace like that? Because he could say, “THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD.”

If we can say that as well, let us take that sentence seriously and really believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is our shepherd.

“Our hearts are restless until they find rest in thee,” said Augustine.

“It helps to talk” – “He pai ake te korero”

“It helps to talk.” “Find someone to talk to.”

That is the message I find while reading the magazine “UPSTART”. The message is not only in english, but also in Maori: “He pai ake te korero.”

Tell someone that you are feeling sad, that you are feeling lost, that you are feeling lonely, that you are feeling angry, is the message.

But it is also pointed out to talk to someone you can trust,

Do you have a friend you can trust? Is there an elder you can trust? Is there a kaumatua you can trust? Is there a youth leader you can trust?

I have a friend I can really trust. My friend is the Lord Jesus Christ. He says in John 15:14:

“‘You are my friends if you do what I command.'”

What is PRAYER?werner-150x150-e1367980712224

I have learned that: “‘Prayer is talking with Jesus.'” “‘Prayer is the soul of man talking to God.'”

The Lord Jesus Christ has found me and I talk to the Lord Jesus Christ about everything.
