J.J.! and S.D.G.!

At the beach.

J.J.! and S.D.G.!

I don’t like abbreviations, but here we are.

Today I am really encouraged to ask the Lord for help when beginning something and giving the glory to God when he has helped me to finish something. Or I should rather say again encouraged.

Why?

I am reading about the famous German composer Johann Sebastian Bach.

Before Johann Sebastian Bach wrote a piece of music, he wrote J.J.! on the empty page. That is short for Jesu Juva! Jesus help! At the end of the piece of music he wrote S.D.G.! That is short for Soli Deo Gloria! To God alone be the glory!

But let me also say that I don’t mind abbreviations, as long as I am told what they stand for. And I hope that you are also encouraged to begin every task with prayer and say “Jesus Help!” and also say “to God alone be the glory” when you have finished the particular task.
