HOPE

“WHAT OXYGEN IS TO THE LUNGS, SUCH IS HOPE TO THE MEANING OF LIFE,” said Emil Brunner.

“My hope isĀ  built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness,” is a hymn by Edward Mote. He continues to say, “No merit of my own I claim, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.”

The Christian’s hope of eternal life is based on the fact of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. What gives us confidence and hope is the physical, bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The resurrection body of the Lord Jesus Christ had flesh and bones. (Luke 24:39)

It was a glorious body. (Philippians 3:21)

It was an immortal body. (Romans 6:9)

It was a spiritual body. (First Corinthians 15:44)

It had the ability to pass through solid walls. (John 20:19)

What does the Apostle Paul say in First Corinthians 15:17-20? He says, “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.”

In verse 19 he says, “If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are pitied more than all men.”

Verse 20, “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead.”

People who do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ see an hopeless end to life. People who do believe in the Lord Jesus Christ see an endless hope.
