“FUEL FOR THE SOUL”

“Fuel for the soul.”

Today I picked up a very old magazine  (August 2008) at the Kaitaia library called “Boating New Zealand” for 20 cents.  “Boating New Zealand” is “New Zealand’s Best Selling Boating Magazine.”

Straight away I was interested in the caption of the editor’s log called “Fuel for the soul.”

Boaties were asked the question: “What epitomises boating for you?” “Freedom, family and fish” was the answer. “It’s that ability to  cast off and drift away from the stresses of normal everyday life…”  “Fuel for the soul.”

Fuel for the soul!

What is the nourishment of the soul for the child of God? The answer is the daily reading of the Bible, the Word of the Living God!

CHRISTMAS GIFTS

Gifts

On the front page of the local paper ( The Northland Age, Tuesday, November 16, 2010 ) I read the big black letters “need gift ideas?” Underneath the  “Frame’n’ek gallery & framing” advertisement says “exciting new gift range in store now.”

On page two of the same paper is an even bigger ad telling me about “The Ultimate Christmas Gift!” What is the ultimate Christmas gift? It is a calendar. “100% local Northland 2011 Calendar. A stunning Photographic Collection from Award – Winning Photographers.”

GIFTS!!

“NEXT TO THE GIFT OF CHRIST AND THE HOLY SPIRIT, THE BIBLE IS THE THIRD GREATEST GIFT.”

—-The gift of Christ:

“BUT THE ANGEL SAID TO THEM,

“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people.  Today in the town of  David a Savior has been born to you;  he is Christ the Lord.'”

—-The gift of the Holy Spirit:

Acts 2:38

“And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

—-The gift of the Bible:

Today we received a letter from BiblesinAction in Henderson and in the letter it said:

“Transform a child’s life this Christmas with the gift of God’s Word.”

A FRIEND IN A HIGH PLACE

“HIS GREATEST VALUE TO THE PEOPLE HE HAS REPRESENTED FOR SO LONG HAS ALWAYS  BEEN AS A CONSTANTLY ACCESSIBLE FRIEND IN A HIGH PLACE, A PERSONAL ADVOCATE, SOMEONE WHO COULD AND DID MOVE MOUNTAINS,…….”

That’s what the local paper (The Northland Age, Tuesday, November 9, 2010) says about our MP (Member of Parliament) who “has decided to end his parliamentary career after eight terms”.

John 15:14:

“You are my friends, if you do what I command.”

Philippians 2:9:

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place….”

“ON THEN TO THE RESCUE!”

“People die and go to hell because nobody will be at the trouble and expense to save them.

Cut a way through. Know no impossibilities.

If you cannot reach the perishing souls one way, try another. Try every way, and then try them all over again.

Never be beaten. You must succeed. Make your mind up to do it, and it shall be done.

ON THEN TO THE RESCUE.”

General William Booth ( Founder of  The Salvation Army)

“CELEBRATE…….”

In the local stationery shop you can read a lot about celebrating: Buy cards for Christmas and birthdays and other occasions and send them to your friends all over the world.

“Celebrate Christmas with all the trimmings 2010 Saturday 25th December.”

“Celebrate childhood, celebrate Milestones, celebrate him, celebrate her, celebrate love, celebrate baby.

And don’t forget to celebrate “his birthday” and “her birthday”.

“Milestone Birthday” cards are also for sale.

Celebrate milestone birthdays.

A Milestone is “a significant event in life, history, etc.

Let me tell you about significant milestones in my life:

I have two birthdays. The first time I was born physically. The second time I was born spiritually. Which birthday is more significant? Please tell me! I CELEBRATE TWO MILESTONE BIRTHDAYS!

There is no doubt that I remember the date of my physical birth. But I also remember when I was born the second time, when I was born spiritually. That was more than 5o years ago.

Do you want to belong to the family of God? Do you want to enter the kingdom of the Son of God? Do you want to be saved? Do you want to enter heaven? YOU MUST BE BORN SPIRITUALLY in order do do that! You must be born again!

The Lord Jesus Christ says that in John 3:1-21 The Lord teaches Nicodemus. John 3:3 “In reply Jesus declared, ‘I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
