What does the Bible teach about Body, Soul and Spirit?

P1080215

The above advertisement made me think…..

The following is from the book: “one hundred bible lessons” by Alban Douglas, Lesson 38. (Alban Douglas, formerly a missionary with OVERSEAS MISSIONARY FELLOWSHIP)

Body, soul and spirit are the three parts of man.

First Thessalonians 5:23

Hebrews 4:12

What happens at death?

The body goes to the earth.

The spirit goes to the creator.

Ecclesiastes 12:7

Where did the soul of the beggar go?

Answer: Bosom of Abraham. Luke 16:22

Where did the soul of the rich man go?

Answer: Hell. Luke 16:23

We are tripartite, because we are going to three different places.

“God designed that the human spirit indwelt and ruled by the Holy Spirit, should keep man in constant touch with Himself, and maintain in everything its proper preeminence, ruling soul and body.” – A.T. Piersen

Why did the Lord Jesus Christ die?

To redeem what?

Answer: Our soul.

Hebrews 10:39; James 1:21 and Psalm 49:8

The Nights are getting shorter!

Sunrise 7:16AM

Sunset 5:42PM

That’s what the paper says today on the fourth of August 2009.F1190021

Today we had ten hours and twenty-six minutes daylight.

On the shortest day, the 21st of June we had nine hours and forty-six minutes daylight.

That means that we had forty minutes more daylight than we had on the shortest day.

I am looking forward to the time when there is no night at all.

We are reading about that time in the last book of the Bible, in the book of Revelation.

Revelation 21:25

“…, for there will be no night there.”

Revelation 22:5

“There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.”

Paul, the Apostle, was an Expert Builder

“The important thing about your lot in life is whether you use it for building or parking.” – Coffee News , 03. 08. 09

First Corinthians 3:10-11

“By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

Read the whole chapter three of First Corinthians – only 22 verses!

Books Alive? (Post 1,195 on this blog)

I am looking here at one page of the magazine called “goodreading” and there are four books advertised. About in the middle of the page you can read (in big letters of course):

“2008 BOOKS ALIVE

MUST READ BOOKS ….”

I have seen something similar before and I said it then and I am saying it again. There is only one book that is “ALIVE” – and it is only “ALIVE” for those who believe – and that book is the Bible, the Word of the Living God. And that is also the only “MUST READ BOOK”.

TWO IMPORTANT QUESTIONS:

I read the following questions in the magazine “goodreading”.

1. Your Memoir in Six Words?

2. What would you say if you were asked to sum up your life in six words?

GOOD QUESTIONS!

Yes, what would I say? What would you say?

I HAVE TO THINK ABOUT THAT!!

“Healthy Homes” and a $45.00 Concession Ticket

I really enjoyed the seminar called “Healthy Homes” today at the Union Church in Kaitaia. I learned a lot and I hope I remember what I learned. And I enjoyed it not only because I received a concesson ticket for bus rides worth $45.00. P1080153I answered half a question correctly. (On that concession ticket I can BusaboutKaitaia – Five return trips to Mangonui or five return trips to Pukeknui.)

It was all about insulating homes, insulating the ceilings, the floors and the water heaters. Good insulation of a home improves the physical health of the occupants and saves a lot of money.

The seminar ended with afternoon tea.

After the meeting I attended to some more of my business in town. While doing that I told two people I met about the $45.00 bus ticket. All of a sudden it hit me that I told about the bus tickets without hesitation. I rejoiced about it- it was good news.P1080155

But there is greater news. The greatest news is that the Lord Jesus Christ died for sinners. Am I also so eager to tell about this Greatest News as I am keen to tell about the winning of the bus ticket?

“HEALTHY HOMES!”

Of course, we want healthy homes. Who does not want a healthy home? But I think a home is REALLY HEALTHY, when all the occupants can say with all their hearts “BUT AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSEHOLD, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD.” Joshua 24:15 Joshua said that. That is spiritual health!

I know a home in Kaikohe, where this Bible verse is hanging on the wall in one of the the rooms.
