I think I like to read quotes and collect them. I found the following in the magazine called “goodreading”.
PLEASE COMPARE THE FOLLOWING QUOTE WITH “MY STORY WITH THE BIBLE”
“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it.” – JD Salinger
**********
MY STORY WITH THE BIBLE:
When I was in darkness, the Bible was for me like any other book. But the day came when I passed from darkness to light.
The new birth (regeneration) took place in my life. Regeneration means a new creation. Regeneration means a second birth by the Spirit’s power.
When I passed from darkness to light the Scriptures became alive, the Bible spoke to me. The Bible is now for me the most overwhelmingly impressive book. It is the most overwhelmingly amazing book. It is the Word of the Living God. The Holy Spirit is not only the interpreter of the Bible. The Holy Spirit is also the author of the Scriptures.
The Holy Spirit is a person and wants to become our best friend. We must develop this friendship with the Holy Spirit. He is a personal companion. He is our Comforter. (John 14:16) We can commune with the Spirit without a phone. The Holy Spirit is always with us.
“NEVER LEND BOOKS, FOR NO ONE EVER RETURNS THEM; THE ONLY BOOKS I HAVE IN MY LIBRARY ARE THOSE THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE LENT ME.” – Anatole France (1844-1924)
“It’s not the stress that kills us; it is our reaction to it.” – Hans Selye, pioneer stress researcher
