MATARIKI 2012

CONNECT  WITH STARS, MATARIKI ARTISTS TOLD,” is an article in one of our local papers. (Northern News, June 20, 2012)

The article encourages people to connect with the stars.

Can I encourage you to connect with the God, who made the stars?

Life without end in  fellowship with God is attained through the work of Christ and the faith of the believer.

I am a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ!

“‘Will Our Children Have Faith?'”

Oxford Terrace Baptist Church in Christchurch hosts a seminar on Saturday 18 August with Brian Smith (principal emeritus Carey Baptist College):

“‘Will Our Children Have Faith?'”

I looked up The Collins Concise Dictionary and where it says “generation” I read “all the people of approximately the same age, esp. when considered as sharing certain attitudes, etc.” I am also learning that the years separating one generation from the next is about 35 years for humans.

In the BIBLE we read about the generation of the upright and the  generation of those who seek God.

It says that the generation of the upright will be be blessed and that the generation of those who seek God and seek the face of God  will not only ascend the hill of the LORD but also stand in his holy place.

Do you belong to the generation of the upright and the generation of those who seek God?

If you do you certainly have the desire to declare the power of God to the next generation.

If you do  belong to the generation of the upright and to the generation of those who seek the God you have the desire to declare the might of God to all who are to come.

And you will also commend the works of God to the next generation.

You will also tell your children of the mighty acts of God.

If we have experienced the power of God and his might, if we have experienced the  works of God and his mighty acts in our families our children will have FAITH!

THE ETERNAL SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER

The Question:

“WHO SHALL SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST?” –

Romans 8:35

The inspired answer:

“For I am convinced that neither

death nor life, neither

angels nor demons, neither the

present nor the future, nor

any powers, neither

height nor depth, nor

anything else in  all creation,

will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” –

Romans 8:38,39

“KIDS DO WHAT YOU DO”

“KIDS DO WHAT YOU DO”

Let me say that with more words:

The next generation does what this generation does.

And what about this generation? This generation is a corrupt generation. This generation is a crooked generation. This generation is a depraved generation. I don’t need to tell you that, because you watch TV, you listen to the radio, you read the paper.

In Acts chapter two in the BIBLE Peter addresses the crowd and he is warning them and pleading with them and is saying that they should save themselves from this corrupt generation. Have you saved yourself from this corrupt generation?

In the same book Peter says, “‘Salvation is found in  no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.'” (Acts 4:12)

In the gospel of John in chapter three the Lord Jesus Christ is teaching Nicodemus and  these are the words of our Lord to Nicodemus, who is a member of the Jewish ruling council, “‘I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.'”  (John 3:3)

In his letter to the saints at Philippi the apostle Paul says that the saints there  shine like stars in the universe in a crooked and depraved generation. Are you shining like a star in this crooked and depraved generation?

How can we shine like stars in this crooked and depraved generation?

1. We shine like stars by declaring to  our kids the power of God. (Psalm 71:18)

2. We shine like stars by telling our children about the might of God. (Psalm 71:18)

3. We are shining like stars by telling the next generation the  praiseworthy deeds of the LORD. (Psalm 78:4)

4. We are shining like stars by telling the next generation about the works of the LORD. (Psalm 145:4)

5. We are shining like stars by speaking to our kids about the mighty acts of the LORD. (Psalm 145:4)

“Who do you TRUST?”

“WHO DO YOU TRUST?”

That’s what it says in big letters on an old Reader’s Digest. And underneath in smaller print I read “New Zealand’s most trusted people 2007.” (Reader’s Digest, June 2007)

I like that question and I will answer it:

I belong to those people, who are trusting the Lord Jesus Christ! David, the David in the BIBLE, also trusted the Lord. In Psalm 55:23 he says: “BUT AS FOR ME, I TRUST THE LORD.”

WHY DO I TRUST THE LORD?

Here is my answer:

“This is what the LORD says:

‘Cursed is the one who trusts in man,

who depends on flesh for his strength and

whose heart turns away from the LORD.” – Jeremiah 17:5

( It is also a SERMON OUTLINE! )

Just Two Questions

Just two questions

Let me ask you just a couple of questions:

Do you love life? Is your desire to see many good days?

How do you answer those  questions? Here are the six answers:

First of all you must keep your tongue from evil. Secondly  you must not speak lies. Thirdly you must turn from evil. Answer number four: You must do good. Five: You must seek peace.  Six: You must persue peace.

How do I know that that are the answers  to those two questions?  Because I read the BIBLE!

You find the answers in the Bible in Psalm 34:12,13

“… A GOOD DINNER AND FEASTING …..”

“…. A GOOD DINNER AND FEASTING …”

“Strange to see how a good dinner and feasting reconciles everybody,” says Samuel Pepys.

In Deuteronomy 8:3 we read that our food is not ony bread but also the word of God.  Our Lord Jesus Christ says the same in Matthew 4:4.

Feeding the body is important, but it is more important to feed the soul.

Where do we hear about feeding the body?

You know the answer!  But let us remember what Samuel Pepys observed, namely that “a good dinner and feasting reconciles everybody .”

Where do we hear about feeding the soul?

You know the answer!

But let us remember that a good sermon and feasting on the word of God reconciles everybody.

One symbol used to illustrate the word of God is FOOD. The Bible nourishes us. The Bible is feeding the soul. The Bible is providing meat and drink. Here are some verses from the Bible: First Peter 2:2; Hebrews  5:12-14; First Corinthians 3:2; Romans 10:17.
