World Environment Day–05.06.08

It is World Environment Day. I went to the celebration in The Community Centre and picked up some interesting leaflets. One took my special attention. The leaflet said:

“Your help NOW can make a difference for generations to come.”

The leaflet is produced by Biosecurity New Zealand. It says also, “How to: Check, Clean, Dry. Didymo and other aquatic pests could squeeze the life out of our country’s most precious rivers and lakes. You can help to protect your favourite waterways if you always Check, Clean, Dry any gear that comes in contact with the water, between every waterway, every time.” It also says,”New Zealand. It’s our place to protect.”

But if we really want to make a difference for generations to come we need your help NOW to spread the Good News, the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Will you help NOW? Born again believers will become the best protectors of the country. Let us throw our stones far enough. I am sure you know what I mean by that.

Another leaflet says,

“Reduce your environmental footprint on our Earth.”

It continues, “Here are some ideas on how you can make changes to reduce your footprint on our Earth.” And then some practical steps are given. Of course, I agree with that wholeheartedly.

However, if we want to make real changes we need to increase our footprints on our Earth. We must spread the GOOD NEWS to the ends of the Earth. By increasing the footprints we will reduce our footprint. Born again believers will become the best protectors of the Earth.

“…to face a future…” THE FUTURE AGAIN!

Another flyer invites to a meeting. The guestspeaker is the Green Party spokesperson for the Environment, Agriculture, and Waste and Sustainable Land Management. On the flyer it says,” Come and help our community build resilience to face a future less dependant on oil.” The FUTURE again!

Let me summarize: You can help NOW make a REAL difference for generations to come by getting your footprints to the end of the Earth, preaching the GOSPEL and telling the people that they can have a FUTURE in dependance on the Living God, who created Heaven and Earth. (The Lord knows also about our oil problem).

KEEP COUNT OF THE BIG MOMENTS IN YOUR LIFE

I saw that written on a picture and the picture was hanging on the wall of the local jeweller shop. Fortunately I was also given a booklet in the shop with the same picture in it. In the booklet it also said,”This is what PANDORA jewelry’s all about. We design, you combine your UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS.” If you are not familiar with Pandora go into a jeweller shop and ask.

Unforgettable moments are,” Gift from my best friend– Got this for Mother’s day– My 30th Birthday, etc. In the booklet is also written,” Besides, it will make you look good”.

I also keep count of my big moments. But they are of a different nature.

Let me tell you of my biggest moment in my life. My biggest moment happened in September 1958. And it was the 18th Day of that month. At the time of writing almost 50 years ago. On that day the Lord Jesus found a lost sheep. I came out of darkness into light, from death into life. On the 18th of September 1958 I became a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. A life full of the goodness of the Lord started for me.

I like what is written in the Bible in Ephesians 2:8,9. We have been saved by grace. Salvation is a gift of God. Salvation is not by works. We cannot boast about it.

Let’s come back at the end to the last page of the booklet from the jeweller where it says,” Two people created this– our designer and you.” And there is a picture of beautiful jewelry of course.

But I am glad that I have no part in my salvation. Salvation is not by works it says in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Salvation is a gift. We cannot emphasize that enough. The designer of our Salvation is God alone! But we must believe!

But nevertheless I am a jewel of the Lord. Malachi 3:17 in the Bible. (KJV)

DOUBTS

It was almost 8 am and she said, “I don’t think that he will come”.

The evening before they had received a phone call and a male voice had announced, “I am coming tomorrow at 8 in the morning to pick up the plant. I saw your advertisement in the local paper.”

And yes, it was 8 am or there abouts when he arrived in a taxi to get the advertised orchid.

In the same way we are doubting at times the promises of the Lord Jesus Christ. But what does it say in Luke 18:7?

NOTLANDUNG VOR GOTTES BOTSCHAFT

Stader Tageblatt–22. 05. 2008

Wellington (AFP).

Smoking NOT OUR FUTURE

A couple of days ago I saw some interesting posters and I took pictures of some of them. I don’t know who Jermaine Leef -C4 is but he said the following,” GROWING UP WE’D SEE OUR ELDERS SMOKING BUT WE NEED TO BREAK THE PATTERN.” And underneath it says, “Smoking not our future.”

Of course smoking is not our future and those who smoke need to break the pattern.

If I remember correctly I saw the sign “SMOKING KILLS” in one shop.

But I know what our FUTURE is. Our future is the Word of the Living God. And there we also need to break the pattern. We need to break the pattern of not making the Word of God known to the NEXT GENERATION.

But we are probably not excited enough about the Bible to make the message of the Bible known to the next generation? The schools are still open for Bible in Schools Teachers.  (Religious Education or Instruction)

Let us read what the BIBLE says in Isaiah 38:19, in Psalm 22:30,31 and Psalm 145:3-7. (New International Version)

Vers 4 : “One generation will commend your works to another;..”

Verses 4-7:

They will tell, they will speak, they will tell again, they will celebrate and they will joyfully sing– of your righteousness. Notice also that David says, I will meditate, I will proclaim.

ARE WE DOING THAT?
