ONE WAY STREET (09.04.2008)

I am intending to produce a little paper (magazine) starting with two issues a year for the next two years and then maybe three isues a year with about 18 pages including the cover. It will be called ONE WAY STREET and the main articles will be about LESSONS FROM DAILY LIVING.

Maybe the first issue will be ready by Christmas this year.

The articles will also appear on this blog of course.

“Feel more secure about your FUTURE”

Pick up the magazine “Franchise New Zealand” and you find the word FUTURE quite often on the pages.

But I found the word FUTURE today also on what looks to me like a post card. It is a Westpac post card and it says, “Feel more secure about your future.” On the back you can read what the Westpac KiwiSaver is all about. It also says there,”WESTPAC, Making the most of life.”

We surely want to make the most of life, not only of this life , but also of the life to come. If we want to be really secure about our FUTURE we must come back to the Bible and read it.

In the Bible we find a glorious FUTURE, even a future after death! I am looking forward to it.

“See the Game Plan”– “See the Big Picture”

I had some business at the local optometrists today and saw pictures with those two captions. I was especially interested in SEE the big picture. Of course, we must see the big picture in order to make headway. We find the real big picture in the Bible, the Word of the Living God.– And I must add that it is a beautiful picture.

“HELL”

I found the “Hell” franchise profile in the Autumn issue of “Franchise New Zealand” under food and beverages. Where it talks about new franchisees it says,”They’ll also enjoy an irreverent approach to courting publicity that loves to stimulate controversy.”– “They don’t need food industry experience so they could be accountants for all we care, as long as they have a touch of the mongrel and love a brand with a rebel touch. Our aim is to be cool, clever, creative, charismatic and controversial so they must be comfortable with that.”

The truth about hell. What does the Bible say? Matthew 5:29,30; Matthew 10:28. That is our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ speaking.

CREATED THINGS OR THE CREATOR?

Some people are rejoicing more about the created things than about the creator. They even admit, that the creation is a miracle, but don’t acknowledge the creator. I know for sure. They are even writing about it. How can we help them?

They are very much concerned about the creation. They want to keep it in good order. They are rejoicing about the flowers, the clouds, the forests, the mountains and the animals. They are finding healing, consolation, strength and joy of life in the created things. Creation is for them the home for the soul!

In Romans 1:25 we read, “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator– who is forever praised. Amen.”

What do you really believe? What is your Faith?

A professing believer was asked by a friend, who was not, what he believed. He said, “What do you believe?” He said, “I believe, what my Church believes?” “Well, what does your Church believe?” “The church believes what I believe.” And exasperated he said,” What do you both believe?” He said, “The same thing.”

WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE? WHAT IS YOUR FAITH?

First Peter 3:15

“SPOTLESS”

Yesterday was the second time I saw the van. “Spotless” was written on it. When I looked up the word “spotless” in the phone book under “cleaners” (Yellow pages), I read the following, “our people, your solution SPOTLESS* people work with your organisation to deliver customised, cost-effective cleaning services designed to meet your specifications.”

Cleaning is going on all the time all over the place with lots of cleaning equipment.

But what about our sin? Who can cleanse us from our sin? Only God can deal with our sin. And he has. Only the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ cleanses us from our sin. The Bible says so in First John 1:7 (Authorised Version) “, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” Read also Isaiah 1:18.

The hymn with the chorus “Whiter than snow….” comes also to mind. It is written by James Nicholson . The chorus goes like this,” Whiter than snow, yes, whiter than snow– Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.”

THAT IS REALLY SPOTLESS!

* Please note the words “without spot” in the authorised version! (First Peter 1:19)

POLICIES

Over several years the New Zealand Teachers Council has developed a policy which will help to ensure that only people of good character and people who are fit to be teachers enter the teaching profession. There is an article about that called “Of Good Character and Fit to be a Teacher” in the Summer- issue 8 of the “For teachers” publication.

But in the same issue is also in article called “What Happens when things go Wrong?” What is the process, when complaints about teachers are reported?

The second article shows that things can still go wrong even with a well thought out policy.

If we really want, that things don’t go wrong all that often, we have to come back to God, our creator and the policy He has for us in His word, the Bible. In fact we have to come back to God as a nation. God’s policy starts actually with the New Birth as we are reading in John chapter three. Read the whole chapter, especially John 3:3. Also Second Corinthians 5:17.
